On yet another snowy night in Philadelphia, Emily and I decided to warm up for a bit at the Continental Midtown, a Stephen Starr establishment that serves tasty food and classy cocktails. The original Continental is actually discount hotel venice italy down in Old City, but we prefer the midtown location because it has three separate floors, each with its own bar. This time, we took the elevator all the way up to the rooftop lounge, where there was a cozy fireplace and a beautiful view of the snow falling outside. After checking out the Continental s extensive cocktail list, I finally decided on a grenadine-infused Champagne-O-Rama, ($10) while Emily, true to form, ordered a Sweet Manhattan ($9.50), the Continental s creative twist on a classic Whiskey drink.
The best thing about the Continental is definitely its décor, followed closely by its creative and potent cocktails. At the same time, however, the place feels a little past its prime—like it was really cool in 2005 but is now just yet another trendy bar where the drinks are good but ultimately discount hotel venice italy overpriced. It s still a fun place to stop by for a drink or two, but have any more than that and you ll probably regret the emptiness of your wallet that greets you the next morning.
