The most eager and energetic fans quickly learned the need to run from show to show thanks to the scattered stages, while those who were interested in catching only their most favorite bands chose to relax in the shade or walk around the tent-filled open area between sets.

While some may think that the Vans Warped Tour should’ve paid for for unleashing whiny punk rock ban

The Vans Warped four seasons hotel las vegas Tour turns 18 this year—and even in the early oughties, the Warped Tour was dubbed the "Tour That Won't Die." Now that the tour is older than most of its attendees, it's still going strong . . . making it the most successful traveling tour ever .
While some may think that the Vans Warped Tour should've paid for for unleashing whiny punk rock bands and emo retreads into the world, it's just not the same traveling festival that started four seasons hotel las vegas in 1994. Most of that can be attributed to founder Kevin Lyman 's drive and remarkable business savvy. He still books the entire lineup, which features hundreds of bands on 11 stages, but he's also made the tour much more inclusive.
Sure there's some whiny punk in there. But more and more, it's an iPod playlist brought to life, a  grab bag of old and new rock, reggae, EDM, folk and more. There's a Marley stage featuring Tomorrow's Bad Seeds . An Acoustic Basement where Bayside 's Anthony Raneri's softer side will find a home. EDM kids will love The Silent four seasons hotel las vegas Disco. (And we're not even talking about the non-profits the festival features.)
The stuff I'm excited about are the continuation of what we do with so many cool non-profits. Music-wise, there's the Acoustic Basement. So many [punk/rock] artists are recording albums and doing acoustic tours to support those albums, so this is kind of an extension of that. And Chuck Ragan [of the Florida punk band Hot Water Music] is a good friend of mine and he'll be out there for a while. We're supporting his revival tour through the Warped Tour and trying to get younger fans.
We're also shooting a TV show this year called four seasons hotel las vegas Warped Roadies, which will be on Fuse TV this fall. We've got eight episodes, and we started shooting this week. It follows the life of people on the road, and people backstage. It's done by the guys who—did four seasons hotel las vegas you ever watch Swamp People ? No? It's a reality show, but it's more like educational reality. It's not a Jersey Shore -type exploitative kind of show. It's more like this is how these guys live—it's fun and it's hard work, and shows the dynamics four seasons hotel las vegas of being on the road.
Not quite drinking age but we can go to war. And that's what it feels like more and more each summer. I'm in Park City [Utah] today, I'm enjoying hanging out with friends. four seasons hotel las vegas We went fly fishing, and we're going to go white water rafting, and I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice to do this all summer like regular people?" But I have 24 hours and I have to get on a bus and get back to work.
Well, I don't know. Maybe as soon as I get on the road I'll be really into it. Right now I'm a little tired of it. I'd like to be able to stay in Park City all summer instead of being on the road. It's so beautiful. I could see renting four seasons hotel las vegas out a condo and staying here.
When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exhibit opened, it was cool to go to that. When we did our 15-year anniversary show for Music Cares, that was great. Doing shows at the Gorge is always fun. Touring Australia was a great time. Now we're going back to London four seasons hotel las vegas and we're trying to go to South America in spring.
Well, I don't know about that. The first couple of years we definitely lost money. But we had a pretty good run for 18 years. It's a good value for the fans, and a good value for our sponsors, without whom we couldn't do this tour. People get what they put into it, and we always give people a good day. It might be a hot day—but it's a good day! (Laughs)
Yeah! We're the closest thing to [something like that]—Phish, and us, I think. One of my big jobs in the first few days is to figure out who belongs on the tour and who's tagging along for the tour. I try to get them involved as much as we can, keep an eye on them to make sure they keep out of trouble. A lot of time I've dealt with kids who follow the tour who've run out of money and have no way to get home.
We do a lot of the same places but we're playing a lot of new places this year. We're playing four seasons hotel las vegas new places in Phoenix, San Francisco—we're mixing it up; some places seem to be working better than others.
Aw, man, Pomona. Pomona's always crazy since I grew up in Claremont, so all my crazy friends are going to come out. There's a motorcycle stunt show. There's four seasons hotel las vegas always some special treats there; you never know what's going to happen in Pomona.
Musically, I like majority of the band since I book all the bands on the tour. Big thing for me are the new bands— Dead Sara , Mod Sun , Silver four seasons hotel las vegas Comet, the Constellations. If you come to Warped Tour and you see bands on the side stages, you'll end up seeing them on the main stage pretty soon.

New York will have the most intense storm surge if Sandy comes ashore anywhere in New Jersey, Uccell

New York City , Extreme Weather , Natural Disasters , Video , Hurricane Katrina , New Jersey , Hurricane Sandy 2012 , Hurricane Sandy 2012 , Hurricane-Sandy-Megastorm , Long Island , Hurricanes , National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration , Noaa ,
KENSINGTON, Md. (AP) -- The projected storm surge from Hurricane Sandy is a "worst discount cruise package case scenario" with devastating waves and tides predicted for the highly populated New York City metro area, government forecasters said Sunday.
In this case, seas will be amped up by giant waves and full-moon-powered high tides. discount cruise package That will combine with drenching rains, triggering inland flooding as the hurricane merges with a winter storm system that will worsen it and hold it in place for days.
Louis Uccellini, discount cruise package environmental prediction chief for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told The Associated Press that given Sandy's due east-to-west track into New Jersey, that puts the worst of the storm surge just north in New York City, Long Island and northern New Jersey. "Yes, this is the worst case scenario," he said.
In a measurement discount cruise package of pure kinetic energy, NOAA's hurricane research division on Sunday ranked the surge and wave "destruction potential" for Sandy - just the hurricane, not the hybrid storm it will eventually become - at 5.8 on a 0 to 6 scale. The damage expected from winds will be far less, experts said. Weather Underground meteorologist Jeff Masters discount cruise package says that surge destruction potential number is a record and it's due to the storm's massive size.
"You have a lot of wind acting over a long distance of water for hundreds of miles" and that piles the storm surge up when it finally comes ashore, Masters said. Even though discount cruise package it doesn't pack much power in maximum wind speed, the tremendous size of Sandy - more than 1,000 miles across with tropical storm force winds - adds to the pummelling power when it comes ashore, he said.
The storm surge energy numbers are bigger than the deadly 2005 Hurricane Katrina, but that can be misleading. discount cruise package Katrina's destruction was concentrated in a small area, making it much worse, Masters said. Sandy's storm surge energy is spread over a wider area. Also, Katrina hit a city that is below sea level and had problems with levees.
National Hurricane Center Director Rick Knabb said Hurricane Sandy's size means some coastal parts of New York and New Jersey may see water rise from 6 to 11 feet from surge and waves. The rest of the coast north of Virginia can expect 4 to 8 feet of surge.
"If the forecasts hold true in terms of the amount of rainfall and the amount of coastal flooding, that's going to be what drives up the losses and that's what's going to hurt," said Susan Cutter, discount cruise package director of the hazards and vulnerability research institute at the University of South Carolina.
Klaus Jacob, a Columbia University researcher who has advised the city on coastal risks, said, "We have to prepare to the extent discount cruise package we can, but I'm afraid discount cruise package that from a subway point of view, I think it's beyond sheer preparations. I do not think that there's enough emergency measures discount cruise package that will help prevent the subway discount cruise package from flooding."
A NOAA map of inland and coastal flood watches covers practically the entire Northeast: all of Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, and Connecticut; most of Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and Vermont, and parts of northeastern Ohio, eastern Virginia, North Carolina, and western New Hampshire.
Along the mid-Atlantic coast, storm surge is already starting to build, discount cruise package Uccellini said. NOAA's Coastal Services Center chief Margaret Davidson said to expect "bodacious impacts" from both surge and inland flooding.
New York will have the most intense storm surge if Sandy comes ashore anywhere in New Jersey, Uccellini said. Only if it arrives farther south, such as Delaware, will New York see a slightly, only slightly, smaller storm surge.
In general, discount cruise package areas to the south and west of landfall will get the heaviest of rains. Some areas of Delaware and the Maryland and Virginia peninsula will see a foot of rain over the several days the storm parks in the East, Uccellini said. The rest of the mid-Atlantic region may see closer to 4 to 8 inches, discount cruise package NOAA forecasts.
The good news about inland flooding is that the rivers and ground aren't as saturated as they were last year when Hurricane Irene struck, causing nearly $16 billion in damage, much of it from inland flooding in places discount cruise package like Vermont, Uccellini and Masters said.
The storm, which threatens roughly 50 million in the eastern third of the country, began as three systems. Two of those - an Arctic blast from the north and a normal winter storm front with a low-pressure trough_ have combined. Hurricane Sandy will meld with those once it comes ashore, creating a hybrid storm with some of the nastier characteristics of a hurricane and a nor'easter, experts have said.

Living park international hotel london in Manila, Philippines, Martin Gaw is used to hurricanes. He has seen hurricanes and typhoons that lasted four days, during which water levels were waist-deep. But he didn't expect to spend his fall vacation in New York City bunkered park international hotel london down at the JW Marriott on Central Park South, watching the incoming Hurricane Sandy through the lobby windows.
While most native New Yorkers spent Monday night in their living rooms, playing board games with friends and munching out of well-stocked fridges, the city's stranded tourists had less concrete plans. The hurricane, which is causing flooding and power outages in Manhattan and Brooklyn , has cancelled 12,500 flights park international hotel london worldwide and shut down most businesses and attractions in the New York City region.
"We came to New York expecting there to be so much to do," said Katy Sisson, 22, of Brighton, England, who spent Monday morning park international hotel london walking around Times Square park international hotel london in the wind and rain. "We feel a bit screwed over."
On Monday, many popular tourists attractions were closed, including all museums, park international hotel london major department stores, Broadway shows , the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and World Trade Center memorial. But with their plans interrupted, park international hotel london tourists also couldn't leave, as all flights out of New York City were cancelled.
Sisson was not the only one to brave the elements in an attempt to do some sightseeing. Around noon on Monday, Times Square was nearly as bustling as it is on a normal day, even though most shops and restaurants were shuttered. Those that did remain open -- Levi's, Billabong, Sbarro, park international hotel london and Travelex, among others -- were packed, sometimes overflowing with lines out the door.
Garo Nalbandian, 21, a sales associate at Levi's, said the company called up all its cashiers living in Manhattan around midnight park international hotel london Sunday to ask them to come and work at the lucrative Time Square location park international hotel london on Monday and Tuesday. park international hotel london "All of the tourists are coming here because there's nowhere else open," Nalbandian said. "I don't mind because I wanted the shift. They'll pay for my taxi back home once we close."
Even Sunglass Hut at Broadway and 48th Street -- an unexpected destination on the day of a hurricane -- had a line of people waiting to enter, nearly all of them from abroad. "We're not afraid of the hurricane," said Helide Blowr, 55, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, who hoped to check out some Ray Bans.
Many tourists were of the opinion that the American media has been overhyping the storm. "Here, it is the same news on repeat," said Gaw, noting that, in the Philippines, stores and offices stay open and there aren't minute-by-minute news reports or transportation shutdowns. "American media is overblown. It's too much information," he said.
Dillenburg had to forego restaurant reservations as well as plans to visit the Museum of Modern Art. He had tickets to see "The Book of Mormon" on Broadway, park international hotel london but that was cancelled as well. "Now there's nothing to do but read, sleep and watch TV," he said.
Those basic activities can come at a steep price. Harold Bauer and Marianne Mayer from Vienna, Austria, are paying about $500 a night at the Central Park South Marriott. "That's park international hotel london a lot of money for us," he said. "That money could be used for a week's holiday somewhere else, but here, it's just for one night of sleeping."
The storm is costing Emily Kaplan from Newport Coast, Calif., about $5,000. She came to New York City on Sunday with her six kids, ages 3 to 12, and was supposed to leave Tuesday, in time for Halloween. Instead, she had to extend her reservation at the Plaza Hotel until Friday and go to Rite Aid to pick up whatever costumes she could find for her kids.
But Kaplan isn't concerned about the costs or about being cooped up with six kids. "I have given them many lectures about their attitude, telling them there are people without power or a place to stay," park international hotel london she said. "We are living here with every option, in the lap of luxury, in one of the best hotels in the world. It's far from suffering."

New York is one of two places today. It's either a place where you're sitting watching TV box sets and texting your friends about how much cheese you've stowed away for the storm (me) or it's a hostile, frightening place which is offering you very little, beyond an order to evacuate that you're unlikely to be able to obey.

I'm kinda offended by the comments made by Mr. Gaw. Do not compare this situation with those in the Philippines. I'm Filipino and have family over there whom I worry about whenever a typhoon strikes, but I know it's nothing new to them. In regards to his comment of Philippines transit vs NYC transit: It's fortunate that NYC shut down the transit when they did as we now see much damage to the tunnels and roadways. This was not an overreaction, but a precaution. Kudos to the Philippines if they can keep their business fully operational and running in the midst of a hurricane. Unfortunately, here many workers live in outer boroughs. Without mass transit they are unable to get to work therefore, some stores and businesses have to remain park international hotel london closed. As to US media coverage: We appreciate it. I know much of my family in the Philippines, and many others, don't have TVs, radios or computers to stay in touch with what's happening. So,maybe there's less need for constant park international hotel london news updates. Perhaps Mr. Gaw's family is fortunate enough to afford those things, but mine aren't. I'm sure they would appreciate it too. I'm sorry that Mr. Gaw and his family are unable to enjoy the best of what NYC has to offer and can't leave the city, But I hope that he sees that NYC and the US are doing its best to recover and to keep all those within its affected areas (including tourists) as safe as possible.
Now, instead of going to a museum, a Broadway play or visiting the 9/11 memorial, Gaw is paying about $800 a night for his family to sit in their hotel and watch weather updates.........nothing like getting ripped off in NYC
No kidding........ Too many people living on top of each other, rude, in a hurry, chasing park international hotel london the almighty dollar. in a sea of concrete and constant noise pollution. I'll take my tree frogs and herons and quaking ducks on the pond all day and night long. They cannot possibly be prepared for such a disaster. Too many people. too little space.
Poor guy. Doesn't get to enjoy a lavish vacation. He is the true loser here, not the millions with power, the dozens who are dead, and the millions who will have to spend months if not years rebuilding their life.

Best bet for a less obvious getaway: Geneva. About an hour from Ithaca via helicopter, off two-lane Route 14, Geneva is a little smaller than Ithaca, but lacks none of its charm. You ll find more reasonably-priced tour companies and operators, though not too many hotel options.
Several of the better New York State helicopter tour operators are actually closer to Geneva than Ithaca, and the local school, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, attracts an earthier breed of budding scholar.
Why not try Venice. Venice is well known for its gondolas, the Bridge of Sighs and the Piazza San Marco, and not that much for helicopter tours. (Critics would site its decaying infrastructure, odoriferous canals and decadent culture.) It is less well known as a progenitor of American democracy.
Although the thousand-year life of the Republic was marred by imperfections see Othello the idea of Venice as a citadel of constitutionalism affected Jefferson and Madison, and served as a model for the framers of the U.S. Constitution.
Venetian canals are evidence that romantic myths are often preferable to depending on the winds truth. But knowledge of Venice s democratic heritage should excite the imagination of any American traveler to Italy s coastal jewel.

Think we have had enough of the lies and distortions against Romney. Aren't you tired of making thin

NEW YORK (AP) - The massive storm that pummeled the East killed 10 people in New York City and left the nation's largest city eerily quiet Tuesday, with no running trains, a darkened business district and neighborhoods under water.

At a darkened luxury high-rise building called the William Beaver House in Lower Manhattan, resident manager John Sarich was sending up porters with flashlights up and down the 47 flights of stairs to check on residents.

I am sorry for all the suffering that nature ha caused. But that being said, I have to wonder why some people think it is some career politicians fault that nature does what nature has been doing since the big bang.

Romney wants to dismantle FEMA? Send it back to the States and encourage them to PRIVATIZE (read: profitize) it. Can you imagine? States would be fighting at some point as to which one pays for what! As far as expense, each state would be duplicating the next because each would need their own equipment/man power/administrators to help people before, during and after! As far as profitizing? The rich get rescued and the rest are on our own? Well, I guess the 47 percent don't count anyway as far as that man is concerned. But what an idea! To dismantle FEMA! Moronic! Bush did pretty damn close to that, sending password anouk hotel new york it out to Brownie to run, taking away so much funding. How'd that work out for New Orleans and the over 1000 people who died? 8000 dogs died horribly also because password anouk hotel new york the shelters would not take them in with their owners. Each state would have its own rules. If profitized, each 'company' you pay to 'save' you will have its own rules. Romney does not have common sense or the ability to think three steps ahead! If he had, he would not have put an Irish Setter to ride in a crate on the top of a car for 1000 miles at 65 mph.. on a regular basis! Even if you could care less about the safety of the dog, consider the risk to the other drivers on the road behind that man if any kind of vehicular incident had occurred. A 70 lb dog in a big crate bouncing down the road in front of someone else's family could have killed someone. password anouk hotel new york Does Romney ever 'think' ahead as Colin Powell admonished him earlier this year when he accused Russia of being our 'foe'? When he insists it is IMMORAL to fund FEMA because it might add to the debt to help people out in just such a disaster as this. Mormons are allowed to 'lie' if it helps add members to their religion. Seriously. Flesh and blood gods, millions of them in Mormon belief, are not all powerful. Praying does no good if your god is busy making 'spirit babies'. I for one will pray to my Christian God who IS powerful and ask that Obama be given credit for saving our country from a soup kitchen/bread line Depression, and now again for being a thoughtful and HONEST (as compared to Romney who cannot speak without telling a lie) and STEADY (as compared to Romney whom the only thing you can count on is that you CANNOT count on him) LEADER.
Think we have had enough of the lies and distortions against Romney. Aren't you tired of making things up and trying to manipulate peoples emotions by now. Give it up. Obama is toast and Romney is taking over.
hate about ppl say le pray and hope god help u if he destroy all ny/nj i dont blame god cus if he exist he wouldnt do tha so is part of the nature! tha dumb the jesus want them attecion tha really stupid! ill say im really sorry who really live in ny/nj just keep it up cus is happen in all worlds some part happen more worst than what happen in ny so hope everythin go well and get help and will get ur city back!
I DO mind a few days off from work. Yes, I will be paid but that's password anouk hotel new york not the point. My students need school to be open, most of them will not have proper food and water because the schools are closed. People have died, homes destroyed, family left in ruins. And all you care about is your metro card? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!!? Your name definitely suits you, as you are a selfish D**K!
Yes, thank God for protecting everyone. It could have been worst. I pray for speedy recovery from this disaster to normally conditions. Family lives have been disrupted.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Nathan G. Pope, 48, of Indianapolis, Ind., pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Providence Monday to conspiracy and transporting an individual across state lines to engage in prostitution, in violation of the Mann Act. U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha commented, "As unbelievable as it may seem, in the shadows of modern society, there are still those who traffic in the lives of others for profit. Earlier this month, President Obama announced that January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month . "Human trafficking is a global travesty that takes many forms. Whether forced labor or sexual trafficking, child soldiering new jersey shore hotels or involuntary domestic servitude, these abuses are an affront to our national conscience, and to our values as Americans and human beings," said President Obama. "There is no one type of victim -- men and women, adults and children are all vulnerable. Former Redskin and perennial fan favorite Fred Smoot joined Holden and Danny Friday to lend his defensive expertise to Washington's failing secondary and explain how the team fares at stopping a pass-happy Pittsburgh offense cruise south america Sunday.
Last Sunday, when Giants cruise south america QB Eli Manning hit Victor Cruz with 1:13 remaining to send Washington packing, he made an obvious statement about the Redskins secondary and their deficiencies in the simplest of coverage in pivotal moments of the game.
"The blame lies with both parties here," Smoot said. "Josh Wilson should have did a better job at the line of scrimmage with Victor cruise south america Cruz. Second of all, Madieu Williams is what we call flat-footing, and right at 10-12 yards, so he's too shallow. If you look at when Eli lets this ball go, Victor Cruz is only at about 10 yards it drops right at about 25."
While for Smoot, the on-the-field blame should be shared between the two, he said the real problem lays with the play calling. He would not specifically name Jim Haslett, at least, not mention his last name.
"Well everything starts with a guy by the name of Jim. I'm not going to say the guy's last name. It starts with Jim. Alright, I'm starting this thing around D.C. Everybody, we just going to call him Jim til he starts to produce."
Fred also said no thank you to the theory that there's no such thing as a good loss, saying that's exactly what the Redskins 'L' to their big apple divisional cruise south america foe was … a good loss, if nothing more than for the fact that "you saw your quarterback can play with anybody."
Robert Griffin III's 71.4 completion cruise south america percentage on 28 passes for 258 yards flew in the face of the league's absolute best defensive front four. Names like Jason Pierre-Paul and Justin Tuck chased RG3 around the field all day as he racked up 89 yards with his legs in his first NFC East divisional game, staking claim for himself and his team that the Redskins are no longer an easy victory.
While Griffin III may be the team's new face, this week and a season-ending Achilles injury to tight end Fred Davis brought the return of an old face of the franchise in Chris Cooley – signed off waivers after eight weeks on the couch.
The conversation shifted to difference of being 'in shape' versus being 'in football shape' and Fred believes it won't be as simple as Chris throwing on that no. 47 and taking his familiar place at the end of the offensive line.
"If he comes and plays a game more than 20 to 30 plays, fresh out the couch, we got to give this man the Old Spice award," Smoot joked. "That would be unbelievable. It's a couple layers of shape you have to be in and that's why training camp is so important to push the body; to get the body used to taking a pounding. It's almost like growing calluses on your hand to make it tough."
Assuming he wisely uses this week of practice to start to work himself back into football shape, Fred said this is a tremendous opportunity for Cooley to show this Washington coaching staff something he hasn't been able to – oft due to injury – since they took over this franchise.
"I think this is not only a time for Cooley to see himself in this offense, but to save his career; to bounce back, save his career and let people know he has a lot more football in him," Smoot said. "And what better place to do it then the place you started your career at?"
Washington will have their work cut out for them this Sunday in Pittsburgh. The Redskins secondary – dead last in pass defense, allowing 328 yards per game – have the unenviable task of having to stop a Ben Roethlisberger-led offense which ranks sixth in the NFL in passing, with 282 yards per game.
While Smoot gives the edge to the Steelers at home, he does think if Washington reverts back to a bend-but-don't-break defensive scheme allowing the secondary to play back and limiting the number of blitzing defenders in the box – it will raise their chances of winning to a reasonable fifty percent.
He said the keys to victory are for Griffin to continue his scoring pace by putting up at least 20 on the board, and for the defense to afford Pittsburgh's offense enough space to work and move the football, but then hunker down in the redzone, forcing field goals.

In 1987, the key figures were replacement players. After the regular players went on strike two games into the season, teams unveiled makeshift squads consisting mostly of unsigned rookies and NFL rejects.
From there, they captured seven of their last 10 games to finish 11-4 and claim a division title. Then came playoff wins over the Bears and Vikings, before a 42-10 demolition of the Broncos in Super Bowl XXII, the second time in Joe Gibbs' first coaching era in D.C. that the Redskins won the Super Bowl in a strike-shortened season.
The first time was in 1982, when the players uk seaside hotels carried out the first walkout in NFL history in hopes of acquiring more of the television revenue, among other demands. Few imagined it at the time, but there would be no football for 62 days. Eight weeks of games were eliminated.
In 1987, talk of a possible strike mushroomed during the exhibition season. The National Football League Players uk seaside hotels Union (NFLPA), upset over terms of the collective bargaining agreement, set a strike deadline of Sept. 22, right after the second week of play. The owners voted to play with anyone who crossed the picket line in case of a strike.
"The players association thought they had the upper hand in negotiations, and their mantra was that they are the game," said John Kent Cooke, the Redskins' executive vice president at the time and the son of then-owner Jack Kent Cooke. "We decided to have replacement squads just to show the regular players they were not the game, but an integral part of the game, and that the league would go on no matter who the players were."
The Redskins split their first two games, beating the Eagles and losing to the Falcons. Backup quarterback Doug Williams, who replaced an injured Jay Schroeder in the first quarter of the Eagles' uk seaside hotels game, posted solid statistics both weeks. He later played a monstrous role in the Redskins' post-season run and was named Super Bowl MVP.
True to their word, the players walked uk seaside hotels off the job after the second week of play, demanding higher salaries and a more player-friendly form of free agency. At the same time, the owners implemented their plan to use replacement players for games that would count in the standings, unlike the 1982 strike when competition just stopped.
Suddenly, obscure names represented the burgundy and gold. They included quarterbacks Ed Rubbert and Tony Robinson, wide receiver Anthony Allen, running backs Lionel Vital and Wayne Wilson, tight ends Craig McEwen and Joe Caravello, uk seaside hotels punt returner Derrick Shepard, offensive linemen Darrick Brilz and Eric Coyle, and defensive linemen Dan Benish and Steve Martin. Allen, McEwen, Caravello and Shepard were among those who later made the regular roster.
The major networks were televising the action and many of the games drew modest crowds, circumstances that "broke our backs," said Redskins linebacker Neal Olkewicz, the team's player representative at the time to the NFLPA. He said the regulars resented uk seaside hotels the replacement players, who were mockingly called "scabs."
uk seaside hotels "They had to come up with something to negate the effectiveness of the strike," Murphy said. "We felt at the time the replacements would risk the credibility of the NFL, but they were effective in the sense that they allowed the owners to continue to have the games on TV. It put a lot of pressure on us, and players started crossing the picket line."
Although the regulars returned to work on Oct. 15, three days before another Sunday of football games, the NFL ruled they had to sit out one more week. With another chance to display their talents, the "Scabskins" uk seaside hotels pulled off an emotional 13-7 win over the Cowboys in a Monday uk seaside hotels night game at Texas Stadium, one of the greatest upsets in NFL history.
Dallas played with a host of regulars who'd crossed uk seaside hotels the picket line, including future Hall of Famers in running back Tony Dorsett and defensive tackle Randy White. The Redskins, uk seaside hotels on the other hand, were the only NFL team where no players crossed during the replacement series.
uk seaside hotels When Rubbert went down in the first quarter with an injured shoulder, things looked bleak for the Redskins. But Robinson, a Heisman Trophy candidate during his days at Tennessee who was on a work furlough from prison after a cocaine conviction, filled in admirably with 11-of-18 passing for 152 yards with two interceptions.
By the time it was over, no team better exemplified the bittersweet experience of the replacement series than the Redskins. In fact, a movie modeled after the replacement team's remarkable run hit the screens in 2000. Its name: "The Replacements."
The drama-comedy starred Gene Hackman as the coach (Jimmy uk seaside hotels McGinty) and Keanu Reeves as the quarterback (Shane Falco) of the Washington Sentinels, a motley squad of scabs that went 3-1 while the regulars were on strike.
The final game, a 20-17 win over Dallas, ended the regular season and put the Sentinels in the playoffs. Interestingly, action scenes were shot at the Ravens' home field, then known as PSI Net Stadium.

Les Carpenter of Yahoo! Sports joined the Holden and Danny Show on Thursday morning to discuss his new article about Robert Griffin III.  Carpenter's article discussed how Robert Griffin III enjoys the contact, but has learned to avoid it.
After Robert Griffin III's concussion against Atlanta, a lot of questions arose whether or not he should be running as much as he had been the first few weeks.  Carpenter was quick to note that this is all part of Mike Shanahan's offense.
"I think Mike Shanahan's west coast offense is more run-based than those in the past," Carpenter noted.  The stats also back that up as the Redskins are the second-ranked rushing offense in the league.
"I think this is more of a college thing, but when you have it in the pros, and he is as accurate as he is short, and throws the deep ball he does long, it's a fantastic weapon to have,"  Carpenter said.
The inevitable comparison to Michael Vick was made, and Carpenter didn't seem to like the comparison.  Carpenter mentioned arizona travel clubs to Holden and Danny that, even at this early stage in his career, Robert Griffin III is more accurate than Vick.
"Unlike arizona travel clubs Vick, I think Griffin III has the ability to reinvent himself much more so than any other running quarterback,"  Carpenter continued. "I think that is a better comparison to what he becomes a Steve Young type.  He has the arm strength and the accuracy to become that."
Steve Young is a lofty comparison for Robert Griffin III, but it makes sense.  Both Quarterbacks were mobile enough to be a threat out of the pocket, but both could also stay in the pocket arizona travel clubs and succeed as well.
The idea that Griffin III is able to reinvent arizona travel clubs himself will be the key to his longevity in the NFL.  Eventually his speed won't be his greatest asset, and when it does, Carpenter believes Robert Griffin arizona travel clubs III will adapt because of his phenomenal skill set.

Take Advantage of Being Home: There is no reason to have played so poorly at home, especially at FedEx field.  Yes, it is not known as a tough place to play and it s not as loud as Baltimore, Seattle go direct travel or Kansas City, but this is one of the largest stadiums in the league.  With that many fans in the house, it is important for the defense to make some key and big plays early. go direct travel  The offense needs to up points on the board and get an early lead.  Together, this will make sure the fans are into the game, and it will up to the fans to make it loud and uncomfortable for a young Christian Ponder.
Key On Percy Harvin: This is their home run hitter.  If the Redskins have a hope to win this game, the Redskins must keep Percy from too many big plays.  Also, second year Christian Ponder relies a lot on Percy Harvin, and limiting the wideout s production will decrease how effective Minnesota s quarterback will be.  But don t forget, Harvin has been a menace go direct travel in the kicking game (just ask the Lions). Percy Harvin is really good for a reason, so he will get his big plays, but if the Redskins can limit this to two plays over 20 yards, including on special teams, it will increase the chances of a Washington win.
Win Morris vs. Peterson:  The ground game is where this game will be won today.  Morris will have to have one of his best games of his young career.  Not only will this limit the amount of carries Adrian Peterson will have, but it will limit the amount of exposure that Robert Griffin III will have to a front four lead by Jared Allen.  On the other side, if the Redskins lock down Adrian Peterson, go direct travel Christian Ponder will have to make more plays with his arm, and I like the chances of that a whole lot better leading to a Redskins victory.  Ponder manages a game well, but he isn t ready to lead a team to a victory with his arm.  If we look at the stats at the end of the game and Redskins rushed for more yards, it should be a close win for the home team.
If the Redskins can get an early lead, keep Percy Harvin to only two plays over 20 yards, and win the rushing game battle, the Redskins will be 3-3 before they head off to New York to face the Giants.
