Those of us who have the desire to travel beyond the Earth's atmosphere are dreaming of flying into space, and visiting the International Space Station. This dream is the idea behind the Commercial Crew Development Program at NASA. NASA s goal is to stimulate development of privately operated crew vehicles to low Earth orbit or LEO is in full swing and already on the program s third phase.
NASA is exerting efforts to slowly but surely airline travel discounts realize the third phase of the Commercial Crew Development Program. The next phase is the awarding of contracts to three companies that will develop the needed airline travel discounts technology to support the low earth orbit and planetary missions.
On August 3, 2012.NASA announced funding airline travel discounts to 3 winners in the third round of the Commercial Crew Development program The first award went to Sierra Nevada Corporation located in Louisville, Colorado that received $212.5 million for its proposal to further develop its Dream Chaser Spaceplane and Atlas V system.
Elon Musk's Space Exploration Technologies or SpaceX in Hawthorne, California got $440 million for further development of its Dragon spacecraft/Falcon 9 system. The third award went to Boeing Company located in Houston, Texas for $460 million toward development of the CST-100 spacecraft and Atlas V system.
NASA s Commercial Crew Development program has been executing drastic changes in order to realize the program's goal and at the same time bridge the gap that was created with the 2011 retirement of the space shuttle.
Low earth orbit flights hold promise for commercial space travel. Once NASA s vision airline travel discounts for a cost-effective, safe and reliable space vehicle airline travel discounts has been achieved, more innovative ideas will surely be developed airline travel discounts that will make space travel easy and manned planetary missions closer to realization.
