There are places in the world which you just click with and Berlin is one of these places for me. I actually had and still have a special connection with the city which will never fade due to my father s family history. My grandfather who had fought in WWI for his country was now being deported from the city he loved and knew with his wife and two little ones, one being my father who was a little boy. Every time I am in Berlin no matter what season, alone or with family I have to stop by Hotel de Rome. It may be for breakfast which I have enjoyed in the Bebel Bar after a Sunday mass at the neighbouring St Hedwigs Cathederal or a lovely afternoon High tea experience in the winter months with the sounds of the pianist playing in the background. My favourite though would have to be the rooftop deck which has spectacular views over Bebel Platz and Unter den Linden. Here you can enjoy a Veuve Clicquot on one of the lovely casual summer lounges and if you are visiting with your little ones they can have fun lounging in one of the two beach chairs.
