Celebrity Cruises has had to cancel all remaining Alaska trips this year because of mechanical problems on the ship. The company announced that the Celebrity Millennium developed a problem with one of its two propulsion motors, and had to be docked in a southeast Alaska port. Currently, the large ship is in Ketchikan awaiting repairs. Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, which owns Celebrity Cruises, says that they hope to get the ship working again by the time they start booking passage for next season.
Some passengers were stranded when the ship was docked in Alaska, and arrangements are being made to send these passengers home. The Celebrity cruise spokesperson says that the safety of guests and crew is always a high priority for the company. So far, no injuries have been reported.
