I made a reservation on Continental website to travel to Israel from Chicago O'Hare with a connecting flight from Newark NJ and then on to Tel Aviv. What I chose was flight CO374 leaving Chicago at 11 AM arriving in Newark at 2:15 PM with a connecting flight on CO 84 from Newark, putting me in Tel Aviv at 9:25 AM which would allow me to use that day for business. When I received my confirmation itenarary 2 days later, it was completely wrong. They had me on the 11 AM flight out of Chicago but they put me on the 10:50 PM flight CO90, which put me in Tel Aviv at 4:15 PM. I called Continental to correct the error and was told it was a software glitch, but to change it I would have to pay $300 (change fee) I informed them that the error was their software. They aske me to call their IT department. I thought that they should do that internally, but I called anyway and was told it be 55 minutes of wait time for someone to answer. I called private kauai vacation rentals Continental to cancel my flight and now was told it will be $300 cancellation fee.
At that point I contacted my AMX and was told they will handle the issue. At that point I went to Priceline and got the correct travel times on Continental and I traveled private kauai vacation rentals on that ticket. Unfortunalty, AMX did not take care of it and Continental refused private kauai vacation rentals to acknowledge my cancellation so now I am stuck with paying AMX $1900.
That's step 1. File a WRITTEN formal dispute outlining everything you say hear. That makes Amex do more then "talk' (Sadly my experience is that your trust in Amex was misplaced. I had the MERCHANT on the phone telling Amex (A) I didn't charge her for the hotel room and (B) you never paid me and Amex happily saying "we don't do things like that" LOL! I did finally get the $1,000 back but it took WEEKS and lots of daily calls and assistance from the poor hotel manager who provided Amex ALL the records of what they paid him!)
Why would it take two days to get your itinerary/ticket confirmation? When I book a ticket, it's immediately sent in an e-mail. I don't book Continental a lot (now United), but some airlines have a 24 hour cancellation/change private kauai vacation rentals policy.

UPDATED 12:15 p.m. PT: Customers of United Airlines saw improved service on Sunday as the airline worked through technology glitches during its combination of the United and Continental Airlines reservation systems.
On Saturday, United adopted the reservation platform of the former Continental Airlines italy tour operators after the companies merged to form the world's largest airline, now known as United Airlines and owned by United Continental Holdings.
But after spending months preparing for the change — including training about 15,000 employees on the new software — United said on Sunday italy tour operators that technical issues had flared up at airports across the system, causing delays.
"We did have some issues with our kiosks and at times that slowed the check-in process," McCarthy said, adding that the airline's performance had improved by Sunday morning as the company installed upgrades italy tour operators to the kiosks.
About 75.5 percent of United's mainline flights were on time — arriving within 14 minutes of their scheduled slot — on Sunday morning, as were about 87.1 percent of its Express flights, according to McCarthy. "Employees are working hard to take care of our customers," she said.
Original story: In a final step of its merger, United-Continental on Saturday performed italy tour operators a massive procedure consolidating two IT systems into one, a process called a "cutover." The transition has gone relatively smoothly, though some fliers have been affected by missed connections and late departures and arrivals.
Some travelers reported about their experiences on Twitter: "Getting an upgrade on #United has never seemed italy tour operators less convenient or more expensive than it does now. Congratulations guys!," tweeted @rogermud. "Flying on #United or #Continental today? Arrive early as they've italy tour operators completely bungled the debut of their new check-in system. #mergerfail," wrote @owasow. "#United rolled out their new website italy tour operators today and it takes significantly longer to load," @deanwampler tweeted. "If you're flying #United/#Continental today have the option to check in curbside, do it! Reading horror stories but curbside was a breeze," said @ericschmoldt.
In an e-mail to msnbc.com, United Airlines spokesperson Rahsaan Johnson said one system is now supporting the carrier. "The system conversion involves moving millions of reservations and re-establishing numerous communications links. The vast majority of this work is going well, and we are resolving technical issues italy tour operators that we are identifying during italy tour operators this process," he said.
"As a letter grade, I give them a B-," said Joe Brancatelli, frequent flier and publisher of business-travel newsletter JoeSentMe. Most problems, he said, have been reported at pre-merger United hubs such as Dulles International in Washington and O'Hare International in Chicago. Former Continental hubs, he observed, have not had as many problems.
As for the delays at Dulles and O'Hare, Johnson said the airline is working italy tour operators "to speed up airport kiosks, which at times have slowed check-in," but added "most of our flights have either departed on time or within 30 minutes italy tour operators of the scheduled departure time.
As of 5 p.m. ET, United's on-time percentage for departures out of O'Hare was at 16 percent, according to Flightstats.com. Out of 83 tracked departures, one was canceled, 28 were delayed italy tour operators between 15 and 30 minutes, 20 delayed between 30 and 45 minutes and 21 were delayed more than 45 minutes. By comparison, American Airlines' on-time percentage out of O'Hare was 85 percent.
Recent history italy tour operators is littered with cutovers that didn't go quite as planned. italy tour operators Perhaps the most infamous snafu took place in 2007 when US Airways tried to integrate the systems italy tour operators of merger partner America West. The result? Out-of-order kiosks, long lines, flight delays and lots of inconvenienced and angry customers.
More recently, Virgin America and  Cathay Pacific  have suffered italy tour operators IT-migration meltdowns that impacted travelers' ability to manage reservations, access mileage plan accounts or talk to a reservation italy tour operators agent.
italy tour operators As for United's cutover, "people haven't lost a seat or not been upgraded, but it's not running as smoothly as it should," Brancatelli said, adding that problems italy tour operators will be fixed in the days ahead, but said the issue today is moving people through the system.
If you're traveling today, Brancatelli urges carrying on your luggage if you can, printing out everything, leaving for the airport early and allowing plenty of time, and if you're not flying over the next few days, staying off United.com.
United and Continental have gone to great lengths to lay the groundwork for a successful transition. Earlier this week, United's Johnson said the carriers conducted four dress rehearsals, successfully migrating italy tour operators the data from United's Apollo-based system to Continental's SHARES-based one.

United says that the situation has calmed and that it’s taking steps to keep things going smoothly.

A t United Airlines, they called it the "cutover." It was the final and most difficult piece of the puzzle in the merger with Continental Airlines, and it involved combining two complex passenger reservations systems.
A closer look at the cutover and its repercussions suggests that no airline low car rental prices is immune to a systems failure that could affect your next flight and that beyond a common-sense strategy or two, passengers can't do much to prepare for a meltdown.
The lead players in United's low car rental prices IT drama are two reservations systems that handle functions from ticketing to loyalty programs. United's was called Apollo; Continental's was Shares. United chose to use Shares shortly after merging with Continental, and late on the evening of March 2, almost a year and a half after the consolidation became official, it completed the process of combining Apollo and Shares by copying the data on both systems, low car rental prices backing it up and then consolidating it.
That part of the cutover went relatively smoothly. But on March 3, United customers awoke to a new Web site, and the old Continental site now pointed to United.com . And airport agents powering up their workstations were greeted low car rental prices by a Shares log-in screen, a system that half of them hadn't used in a real-world setting.
Adding to the confusion, United made other, unrelated policy changes at about the same time. Those included tightening low car rental prices several rules for its frequent fliers, who also tend to be its most vocal customers. Lower-tier elite-level passengers could no longer get upgraded to United's premium economy class when they reserved their tickets; they had to wait until the day of their flight to secure their Economy Plus seat assignments. Their free-checked-baggage allowance was also cut from two bags to one, generating more complaints to United's call centers and straining the airline's resources.
Call volumes surged from 1.5 million the week before the cutover to 2 million the week of the switch, exceeding what managers had planned for by 10 percent. "Handle" times — the length of time it takes to resolve a customer inquiry — jumped 120 percent. Answering inquiries took an average low car rental prices of 20 minutes as many agents wrestled with their new Shares interface. That, in turn, lengthened the call wait queue. Some customers low car rental prices hung up after spending what they said was hours on hold.
John Buckholz, a planning manager in Ogdensburg, N.Y., spent more than three hours on the phone trying to cash in a gift certificate, which involves more steps and usually takes longer on Shares than it did on Apollo. "There was no way to talk to someone who had any power to do anything," Buckholz complained. "Anyone I talked to was extremely short with me and just told me there was nothing low car rental prices I could do."
Sergei Shevchuk, a research scientist in San Francisco who tried to phone the airline during the cutover, also grew increasingly frustrated. He'd canceled a ticket just before the switch, and when he called to find out about his refund, low car rental prices agents offered conflicting answers, first saying that his ticket wasn't refundable and then that they couldn't find his reservation. low car rental prices "No one there seemed low car rental prices to be able to locate one of the tickets," he said.
Kathy Talcott, a United passenger who'd been waiting since January for a promised refund, received low car rental prices an e-mail from a customer service manager who blamed the cutover for the delay. "Things have worked very slowly," low car rental prices the agent said, begging her to remain patient.
United says that it didn't permanently lose any reservations during the transition and that every itinerary, including Shevchuk's and Talcott's, was eventually tracked down. The airline also says that the cutover wasn't entirely to blame for the difficulties but that it might have exacerbated them.
My e-mail in-box was filling up quickly with United queries. So was Martin Hand's. He's United's senior vice president for customer experience. low car rental prices "My e-mail volume was up by about 10,000 percent," he told me. "For the first three weeks, I would be up until midnight every day and start again at 5 a.m., answering customers."
Hand says that United began developing the customer service strategy for the cutover before the airlines merged. Last October, his department started training agents in how to use Shares and briefing them on United's new policies. It hired 400 new call center agents and recalled almost 300 furloughed employees. "We thought it was enough," he says.
But United had bitten off a little more than it could chew. One of the critical choke points proved to be the airport low car rental prices agents, whose systems essentially had been downgraded from a point-and-click interface to one that accepted only text-based line commands. Although that was a temporary setback — United plans to add a more user-friendly interface by the end of the year — it combined with the recently migrated low car rental prices passenger reservations low car rental prices system low car rental prices and the new rules to give United low car rental prices and its customers a March they'd rather low car rental prices forget.
United low car rental prices passengers could have protected themselves by having a printout of their itinerary with their alphanumeric record locator number — always a good idea. That way, if their itinerary disappeared into the electronic ether, an agent would have a starting point for finding it.
And they could have packed a sense of humor. When a whole row of computers shuts down spontaneously, what is there to do except laugh? But many passengers didn't know about the cutover, or its probable low car rental prices implications, until it was too late.
United says that the situation has calmed and that it's taking low car rental prices steps to keep things going smoothly. Between now and June, the carrier is hiring another 400 contact center workers, adding to the staff of 6,300 employees who answer passenger inquiries low car rental prices via phone and e-mail. Its all-important handle times have been cut in half, to an average of 10 minutes, which is almost back to normal. (The goal is closer to eight minutes.)
No one knows when the next airline IT crisis might flare up or which airline it will hit. A combined US Airways-American Airlines, which some industry watchers are predicting, is a likely candidate. But if the madness afflicting United in March has taught passengers anything, it's that there are some airline problems you just can't plan for.
On the other hand, why should the CUSTOMER have to show some patience?  We didn t ask for this merger in the first place; low car rental prices the only benefit most people saw was getting rid of United s former CEO (and compared to Jeff, even he looks good!).  It s not the customer s job to be patient with major problems; it s the company s job to get it right.
I ve observed this process from many angles, including the viewpoint of a former software QA manager. The first problem was choosing SHARES, which is a far less-capable system than Apollo to begin with.  Then the process gives all indications of being inadequately tested. low car rental prices When your corporate livelihood depends on a functioning computer system, you need to test it within an inch of its life before low car rental prices implementing a cutover.  Finally, there was not enough training given to pre-merger United workers.  Maybe those who have been around long enough to have used Apollo low car rental prices before United spun it off (that s 20+ years ago) might have remembered some of the old commands, but even those would have been different.
I m sorry, [insert prefix here] sershev, did you say your problem was that Houston based agents are not helpful and polite?  I apologize for that.  Is there anything else I can help you with today?  Oh, you want to check the status of your flight?  I apologize for that [insert prefix here] sershev.  Please hold as I look for that information.  Yes, I see that your flight number has been changed.  I apologize low car rental prices for that.  Is there anything low car rental prices else I can help you with today?  I m sorry, I don t understand quit reading from the script .  I apologize for that.  Is there anything else I can help you with today [insert prefix here] sershev?  Yes, my name is Betty and I am located low car rental prices in Kansas City.  No, I do not know how my home town team of the Cardinals is doing, I apologize for that.  Is there anything else I can help you with today [insert prefix here] sershev?
I, for one, don t find *anyone*, based at *any* location reading from a script helpful nor polite, merely (semi literate.  US-based low car rental prices agents are far less likely to read from a script and quit wasting time with their meaningless apologies and offers of further help .
At the Denver airport, there were dozens of UA employees low car rental prices gathered low car rental prices around every CO gate for several weeks prior to the big conversion.  Most seemed occupied with gossip, but there were a few that seemed truly interested in learning the system.  They were working with live passengers on real flights getting them rebooked for missed connections and so on.  I just think most of the UA employees didn t want to learn.
I think Deltamatic is still a dinosaur. I noticed that a number of European and Asian carriers have moved to Amadeus Altea (suite). Nevertheless, I think any system will have a tough time with United since (IMO) UA has so many upgrade options that most airlines don t have.
True, I can tell you a few horror stories from both CO and UA pre merger that would make you go huh? and ask me why I continued to fly with either.  Answer is: most of the time there really is no other choice. low car rental prices  WN and F9 are available low car rental prices to me, but each has their own limitations and frustrating policies as well.  So, I just choose whatever airline appears to offer the best flights to fit my schedule now and hope for the best.
What I find most telling (and depressing) from this entire discussion is the comment (if true) that UAL/CO decided to go with the SHARES system to save on software licensing fees since that system was no longer supported by the software company that developed it. And expecting either employees or customers to use a non-GUI based system low car rental prices is a very 20th-century, backward-looking approach to the technological link between the airline and its customers. G'Day, mates! We're heading to Sydney , Australia, the new home city for Anthony Deos, an American native now in his final year of his PhD in politics at the University of Otago, NZ. Deos was born in New York and has lived as an ex-pat in Germany, Austria, Belgium, and New Zealand and recently relocated to Sydney, where we discover his challenges canada travel last minute deals of being an American ex-pat, some cool, nearby attractions visitors miss and the weirdest canada travel last minute deals souvenir anyone could ever bring home.
Before arriving in Sydney my impression of the city was similar to my impression of Australia as a whole: an interesting place that was rugged, hot, remote, and quaint with snakes and spiders behind every door. I assumed Sydney was representative of the nation, but that could not be further from the truth. canada travel last minute deals Each city in Australia seems to have its own character and culture. Oh, and I've never seen a snake in Sydney... yet!
The greatest challenge to living in Sydney is the cost. It can be difficult to become accustomed to the prices especially when settling into the city. As a new resident, I needed to reassess spending habits and that can be a shock to the system canada travel last minute deals as it usually also means lifestyle changes. Living costs in general are very high in comparison to anywhere I have lived before. In a recent study by the Guardian, Sydney ranked as one of the most expensive cities to live in. Housing canada travel last minute deals costs are unbelievable for the space you get. Food, entertainment, public transport, alcohol, you name it and it's expensive.
Sydney is more diverse than one might assume for a nation so remote compared canada travel last minute deals to others. It is home to large populations of immigrant African and Middle Eastern cultures, Chinese, and a surprisingly large US ex-pat community.
On a side note, having moved to Australia from New Zealand/Aotearoa, it's interesting to notice both the unique friendships between the Kiwis and Aussies, as well as how different they are from each other.
There are so many things to see and do in Sydney, both in the Central Business District and further afield. An easy two-hour trip outside of the city is the beautiful Blue Mountains to the West or the Hunter Valley to North. Both of these are worth a visit. Hunter Valley has some amazing wineries as well. In Sydney CBD, Chinatown is always interesting and a great location for a quick, cheap, and tasty dumpling dinner. The NSW Art Gallery has amazing exhibitions and offers a nice location for a coffee or even high tea. In the summer Sydney has two great outdoor movie centers, one in the Domain ( Botanical Gardens ) and another in Centennial Park . The beaches canada travel last minute deals I like (other than Bondi ) include canada travel last minute deals Bronte and Tamarama.
Wow, there are some great restaurants. I am partial to my local favorites canada travel last minute deals in Annandale. The Empire canada travel last minute deals Hotel is, dare I use the term, fabulous. It has been newly refurbished and has daily meal deals that are very good value. Esther's Table is a lovely cafe with friendly staff, good coffee, and the perfect community atmosphere. My guilty pleasure is Chinatown , where my favorite dumplings place is the Chinatown Noodle Restaurant.
Compared to the United States, Australia in general is a much more laid-back environment. People aren't as up-tight as Americans and this is something that we will hopefully learn from our friends around the world (amongst many other things). Sydney-siders love the outdoors and enjoy a very healthy work-life balance. In reverse, I find service in restaurants in Sydney to be severely lacking, but if this is the price of living in Sydney I'll pay it.
I look forward to my life in Sydney. It will be my home for the foreseeable future. So, everything is on my radar. I want to know the city inside and out, settle into the community, find a job, and who knows... canada travel last minute deals maybe run for political office I joke, unless I win.
I think Sydney is a great city, with plenty canada travel last minute deals of opportunities. Of course there are always positives and negatives. My only hope is that the city continues its momentum forward. Clover Moore, the Lord-Mayor has, in my opinion, done a great job and her popularity borders on celebrity. Sydney, located in the state of New South Wales , would benefit from continued and improved support from the state government especially canada travel last minute deals in regards to infrastructure and education projects, which are important for Sydney and Australia's canada travel last minute deals future.
My partner is Australian and I recently received my provisional canada travel last minute deals partner canada travel last minute deals visa, so I am here for good! One last thing I must mention I look forward to Australia changing its legislation regarding LGBT equality. I am hopeful it will happen soon especially since Australia's Kiwi brethren are on path to make the change this year!

The women originally tried to convince officials they were part of a tour group before switching their story to being old school friends. However, after not being able to identify each other by name, suspicions were raised and they were taken into custody.
Suspicion was raised about the group after a husband and wife travelling red lion inn at the quay to New Zealand were apprehended red lion inn at the quay when they were apprehended and questioned about their own intentions. The wife was prevented from boarding another plane due to an alert on her passport was placed due to the belief that she had previously been suspected of people smuggling.
That in itself was quite suspicious, said Ms Urwin regarding the husband s apparent disregard for his wife s apprehension; he was detained red lion inn at the quay in Christchurch as there was insufficient evidence to detain him in Kuala Lumpur.
The apprehension of the nine women comes just a week after another person was arrested at Auckland International Airport on suspected people smuggling charges. The nine women however is the largest such arrest in New Zealand s history.
This is the largest single offload that INZ has completed and highlights how crucial it is that we share information with our international partners to protect the integrity of our border, said Ms Urwin.
