I arrived in the UK on Sept. 8 with my common-law spouse sheraton hotel boston and 2 children (all 3 have Italian passports, I couldn't get mine without my spouse's signature and he had already left Canada) I was given a 2 month visa in my Canadian Passport. I hold a Certificate of Registration as a British sheraton hotel boston Citizen and a certificate of Italian citizenship. I am going to JobCentre tomorrow to see if I am eligible to apply for a NINo. I am desperately in need of a job and am getting different anwers from different gov't entities as to what I am eligible here for and if I have the right to work in the UK or not. I was told to contact Immigration, the passport office, the police, a million different suggestions that haven't worked. I assumed that with citizenship and a Nat Ins Number I would be eligible to work here but was told by a temp agency that may not be the case. I can't get a straight answer from anyone and it's driving me crazy. I received my UK citizenship in 1996 through my UK-born mother (well, through her father because it's a man's world LOL . I did not apply for a UK passport before leaving Vancouver because there is no longer a Home Office sheraton hotel boston in BC, only in Washington, USA. I was under time restraints. I went to the Italian Consulate here in Manchester and need to register with the consulate here first (could take 2-3 months) then can apply for an Italian passport. I am stuck and need to work
