NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- Myrtle Beach is known as a tourist destination, while other parts of the Grand Strand are more family-oriented. However, not everyone is excited about the increased traffic on the north end. Rick Givens, owners of Ricky's Dockside, said locals come to his restaurant to get a way from the bike week traffic. Givens said events like bike week have gotten smaller but the traffic throughout the area is still a mess, especially on the south end.
Givens said the majority of his customers are locals. Meanwhile, owners at Rum Runnerz hope this year's annual Blue Crab Festival mixed with other tourist attractions will add up to more customers as the busy tourists season approaches.
