Headed to Chicago for 4 nights in September and we want to stay near Michigan Avenue but are trying use Hilton points. For our nights of travel there is availability to use points at Hilton australian health and travel insurance Garden Inn or Homewood Suites. Both are near the Red Line stop at Grand Avenue. Being close to the subway is important to us as that will be our main mode of transport. This is a leisure only trip with me and hubby. We will be shoppiung, seeing a show and going to some restaurants. I used to live in Chicago (Lakeview Area) but moved away about 10 years ago so I am very comfortable with CTA transport and we will prob not use taxis at all so must be near stop for the EL.
I've stayed at that Homewood, although it's been years ago. Assuming no substantial changes, it was quite nice--the rooms are big, and the included breakfast is always a welcome addition--saves $ to use toward lunch and dinner! The lobby is not on the ground floor--you take an elevator up to it, but that's no big deal and it had a cool rooftop pool I think.
We have stayed at the Homewood Suites several times and the location is great for walking around Chicago. It is an easy walk to Michigan Ave. There are several restaurants within walking distance and also a Trader Joe's if you want to get snacks for your room.
Thanks for the replies! I like that Homewood has breakfast included as well. My only concern was generally australian health and travel insurance speaking a Homewood Suites is a level lower than a Hilton Garden Inn. Here they are the same price so I just wasn't sure if this was a older not as nice HGI or just a really nice Homewood?
As far as shoppin gon Mich Avenue, am I better suited to stay near the Grand Avenue stop or the Chicago avenue stop? If I remember correctly Watertower is about halfway between the two stops and Watertower is pretty much center of MAg Mile?
Water Tower Place is at 835 North Michigan Avenue, one block north of Chicago Avenue and three blocks from the north end of the Mag Mile. As the Red Line is on State Street it doesn't matter if you're closer to Chicago or Grand because Michigan Avenue is three blocks east of either.
Water Tower is not halfway australian health and travel insurance between australian health and travel insurance the two stops. It is actually northeast of the Chicago australian health and travel insurance Avenue stop. However I like to shop at other stores up and down the mile, so if you want to go to Nordstrom, Saks, and etc. you would start on about Grand Avenue anyway. I usually choose Homewood australian health and travel insurance over HGI because of the breakfast australian health and travel insurance and the manager's reception (free beer and wine). I've just read the reviews and it seems like the carpeting and furniture in both of these locations is becoming worn and tired. There is a little more room to stretch out at the Homewood.
