I have just been researching car rental companies and wonder what you all suggest that have rented in this area? Aside from people telling me NOT to rent a car in Nice(which is not helpful at all since it must be done) can someone give me the most economical and trusted advice for a company? I've done some looking on AutoEurope. I was just wondering if this was the preferred way to go?
Book through AutoEurope and you'll get one of the well known car rental agencies and have AutoEurope (based in US) standing behind you if there are problems. We were given an Avis at the Nice airport last summer.We rented the car when we left Nice but if you have parking near where you're staying, driving shouldn't be a problem.
Autoeurope or Kemwel (sister companies) are the way to go, especially for a one-way rental. Autoeurope sometimes uses Hertz as a provider, but the agent on the line said that Hertz charges extra for the one-way clarion hotel riverwalk rental. If the provider clarion hotel riverwalk is Europcar, there is no one-way charge. If you are willing to chance it (some are not), take the basic rate and have your credit clarion hotel riverwalk card carry the CDW. But check with the credit card company to see if that is possible and if it is with no deductible.
Thank you so much. Yes, I have it on my list to call my AmEx and make sure I am covered there. I am also getting renters insurance for the place we've rented and it looks like I can carry a bit extra there if I needed to. We aren't doing a one way rental this time, so that shouldn't be an issue.
