During the first-ever live-streaming of a parade on KLRN.org/Fiesta – Monday's telecast of the Cavaliers River Parade, hosted by Ursula Pari and Steve Spriester — comments arrived from Illinois, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Arizona, New York, Maine, Sicily and Sweden, KLRN spokeswoman Katrina Kehoe reported.
On our Facebook page and Twitter page, we had people telling us where they were watching from," Kehoe said. "We had around 500 views of the online streaming during the river parade…averaging about 100 people at a time."
As you know, San Antonio's newest Tinsel Town celebrities, Armie Hammer ("Mirror, Mirror" "The Social Network") and his wife, Elizabeth Chambers (E!), just opened their own bakery here: Bird Bakery in Alamo Heights.
"I handed Elizabeth space travel future her UT Longhorn Fiesta medals. She said they were her first, so far. She is a very gracious lady," Cavazos said, adding: "The place was hopping busy. Yet, Elizabeth made time to shake hands, smile and listen space travel future to my spiel." (See photos of Chambers, Hammer and the medal in slideshow.)
I felt like a bit like a fox in a hen house at first when I joined a bunch of our TV anchorwomen to judge the Fiesta Hat and Style Show sponsored by The Woman's Club of San Antonio. But they all — Ursula Pari, Sarah Lucero, Monica Taylor, Bridget Smith, Isis Romero and Leslie Bohl Jones — turned out to be super-gracious and welcoming.
We all got the biggest kick out of the "Mad Men" style show, which had a number of our media guys modeling Dillard's fashions styled by emcee Michael Quintanilla of the Express-News. Check out the slide show for the hammiest poses on the runway.
