It’s time to write my first Email Newsletter of the New Year. A lot has changed in its format and especially on my website since this writing last year. Since the website was re-designed last fall by my son’s Grape Design firm and launched as a true E-Commerce days inn motel directory site, the structure for placing orders for my Original Watercolors and Limited Edition Print Series has changed completely. The results have meant surprisingly higher sales, and many of those sales are for larger sized prints and Canvas Prints. I’m preparing to exhibit again at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, January 18-23. days inn motel directory My primary assistant this year will be Corvette Museum days inn motel directory Ambassador and friend Carl Ballinger, and several Arizona friends days inn motel directory will be helping us during the week. I’ve begun renting a condo for the time there because it offers a complete kitchen and a large living days inn motel directory area to relax in after a long day at the event. It’s also closer to the event than any hotel space. I plan to debut four new images as well as ten new images that weren’t available at last year’s auction. My space is the same as in previous years, #28 G H, and I’m still the first vendor you discover past the sponsors on the right hand aisle.
In checking the home page of my website, you can find thumbnail images of all four of these new paintings. The first image is a long-time project, “Double Your Pleasure.” This is a tribute piece to the two Super Sport 396 Chevelles I owned from 1969-1972. The Marina Blue ’66 had a white interior and a 360 hp engine and 4:11 gearing; it was stolen and stripped in St. Louis in 1970. It was replaced by the Nantucket Blue ’67 Chevelle that I found was a Nickey-built car with many parts from a ZL1 engine. This car still exits in either days inn motel directory Missouri or Iowa, but I have exhausted efforts to find it. The Doublemint Wall sign behind the cars still exists in my hometown of Kirksville, Missouri, and helps tie the cars to the location where I owned them. The second new image, “Saturday Morning Heroes,” is all about my television hero while growing up. The Lone Ranger taught days inn motel directory truth, days inn motel directory justice, and the American Way, so I found a Wheaties box with the Lone Ranger and Tonto that inspired the creation of the sign on Eichorn’s Grocery, also in my hometown of Kirksville. I photographed the Marina Blue 1967 Corvette Coupe at the 2010 NCRS National Convention in Charlotte and couldn’t resist using it here. The next new painting image celebrates the historic Arizona Route 66 gas stop of Twin Arrows. “Camaros at Twin Arrows” is a rather interesting title for the bookends theme of two early Camaro Indy Pace Cars and the two newer Camaros, an SS model and a silver Callaway Camaro. days inn motel directory I’ve passed Twin Arrows for years watching it deteriorate, and finally I’ve found the perfect cars to park there to commemorate this Route 66 landmark. The request for a Grand Sport Coupe in Torch Red was so demanding that I selected that model for the painting. This year my friend Corvette Restorer Carl French completed a mechanical restoration of my 1965 Corvette. Over the course of eight months he and his staff removed the engine and did a complete restoration on the engine bay and chassis. They updated many mechanical and suspension items including the clutch and transmission and “spruced up” the 396/425 days inn motel directory hp engine, preparing it for a possible NCRS Chapter Judging Meet in May and possibly an NCRS Regional later in May or at Joplin in 2011. The previously unrestored 1965 Coupe still has most of its original paint and much of its original interior, but there were some mechanical items that just needed to be addressed. Carl and the staff at Midwest Corvettes and Classics did a tremendous job. I would highly recommend them for work on any of your cars.
