With Stockholm basking in the sun with a temperature of 24 degress celcius it was novel to end up in the Nordic hotel IceBar for the welcome cocktail. It's the first time I have been to the bar and everything is made from ice, the glasses, discounted golf travel bags tables, discounted golf travel bags walls, everything! The barman gave a wry smile when I asked what no ice after he had poured my drink, but I'm assuming he gets that pun thrown at him everyday.
The event started well the following day with airports, railways, metrolines, airlines and suppliers all taking it in turns to provide an overview of what was happening in their field and I must say that the organisers had a nice mix of presentations with little overlap discounted golf travel bags but for their enthusiasm of telling the story that intermodal travel is very important for the 21st century traveller.
Arlanda Express represented by their Deputy CEO and CFO Oscar Leopoldson opened the conference on how the company has achieved the highest travel industry customer satisfaction mark for the Greater Stockholm area and in doing so has increased company s earnings before discounted golf travel bags taxes from -158 million discounted golf travel bags kroner in 2000 to +130 million kr in 2011. One of the main reasons for this success was the introduction of different prices and various discounts for specific traveller segments.
Ticketing was very high on the agenda at the Stockholm conference and David Bibby from VISA Europe introduced the contactless card payments with VISA payWave. Visa payWave is Visa s payment method discounted golf travel bags for smaller amounts ( 15/ 20) with no signature or PIN code needed with no need to physically swipe or insert the card into a payment terminal. Using the card, a payment is made in three easy steps: Merchant enters the purchase amount and the contactless reader prompts the consumer to present their Visa payWave card or mobile; Consumer holds card in front of reader. In less than a second the terminal display indicates that the card has been read; Purchase complete.
Airlines and rail operators presented intermodal travel booking and cooperation, with case studies presented from Air France KLM and Lufthansa. Both airlines saw a significant growth in intermodal travel last year and see a bright future for code-sharing between airlines and rail operators.
Intermodal travel is something travellers do nearly every journey, and this was discussed at a workshop to review what could be done to openly collaborate in bringing an easier way for the traveller to obtain one ticket for the total trip. The result is that further working groups will work on providing some plans that could make a further step towards this goal.
