Aside from sharing the national sporting news and the highlights from yesterday's Tour, Beretts shared the great news with Australia that after receiving cheques from two of our corporate partners, Optus and Lexus, we hit $2 million in fundraising for the year to date. While peleton 1 and 2 set off early, peleton 3 stayed mandarin hotel washington dc on at the school to present to the kids. Team Salmat mandarin hotel washington dc did a fabulous job spreading the Be Fit Be Healthy Be Happy message. The captains of the school presented TdC with a cheque for $500 that they had raised from free dress and crazy hair days.
The first 72 kilometers of the day were into a slight headwind, making conditions difficult for the riders at the front of the peloton. They did a great job in taking us through to St Arnaud, where we completed two school visits at St. Patricks and St. Arnaud Primary Schools, mandarin hotel washington dc before having lunch. A note for the cook – curries before another 110 kilometers of riding are not a good idea!
We then commenced our journey to Bendigo. As the terrain was quite monotonous, keeping ourselves entertained was difficult, the conversations died down as fatigue set in, and the jokes got progressively worse. Despite this, morale amongst the peloton was high, and we maintained a constant speed through to afternoon tea in Newbridge, before pushing on to Bendigo.
A special mention to peloton three having had a later start in the morning to present at the morning school visit – who rolled in after dark into Bendigo and had to make a quick change to head straight over to our nightly community dinner.
