The film depicts the politics, violence and corruption rife in Rwanda at the time. For example the indifference of the UN and Western nations to the massacres taking place and the real consequences this inaction had, the almost routine bribery of officials and how quickly the serenity of the hotel decays into chaos with Paul (Don Cheadel) stuck in the middle. The film doesn't attempt to give an objective account of these issues, but rather portrays them from the perspective of Paul and it's that which gets you involved rental car prices into the story and it's that which makes you immersed in what is happening.
I'm glad the film doesn't attempt to romanticise the 'triumph of human spirit' aspect of the film or shy away from the brutal reality of Rwandan rental car prices history; although I feel the film could have been more graphic, and therefore realistic, in its portrayal of the genocide - rather than trying to maintain its PG-13 rating.
This is normally the part of the post where I list things that I didn't like that much about the film, but there isn't too much bad that can be said about Hotel Rwanda . It's not as good as Blood Diamond though.
