We were also considering renting a car and driving to the Coba ruin's. We are going to do the Chichen Itza tour through Yukatreks but with all the other activities and we plan on doing we wont be able to do the Yukatreks tour of Coba. So our question is, is there a huge deposit required to rent a car? We've never rented a car before. Any info is appreciated.

My girlfriend and I are going in less than a week now and we are renting a car and going to chichen, coba, and the nearby cenotes. Most of the places I have looked at are about 10% of the cost of the car give or take. Dont really like going with tours you get there the same time as all the big crowds. The cheapest rental company I have found that is more well known are Budget and thrifty. alot of good info on this site about driving, directions, and cenotes
