I've been slow to write further posts about our Hawaii Cruise. Our stop in Hilo had great potential and we failed to embrace it. Sometimes you do need a plan. The day started off fine with a great photo op of the shoreline as we were assisted by a colorful tug boat. It was early but already los angeles traffic accidents quite warm. The port of Hilo is located in an industrial los angeles traffic accidents area with few sights to see nearby. One must travel a ways to reach the beautiful beaches and mountains. As we departed the ship there was a scene of chaos with the ship's passengers vying for seemingly not enough taxis. We decided to take a trip to Hilo Hattie , a chain of stores selling Hawaiian clothing and souvenirs. There are branches of Hattie at each of the islands we were visiting. los angeles traffic accidents They provide free shuttles to and from the stores. los angeles traffic accidents There was a spot on shuttle so we jumped on, and off we went. The plan was to hit Hattie and then return to the port, hopefully los angeles traffic accidents less crowed, and grab a cab to the beach. Hilo Hattie was fun and unique. We purchased souvenirs and went out to wait for the return shuttle. It was only about a ten minute wait but by then it was very hot and humid. I heard that this was unusually hot weather for the island. I was distressed by the heat and humidly and had a loss of energy. We arrived back at the port and decided to board the ship for air conditioning and drinks. We loved it on the ship so we just hung out. Next time in Hilo I vow to make a plan. Here are some photos I took arriving in Hilo.
