Looks doable for me as a 2nd nighter - I'd hate a 6 hour interstate run all the way up, but could do
This campground is typical rent a car atlanta ga of all the National Park campgrounds along the BRP, meaning rent a car atlanta ga there is a fire ring, lantern pole, picnic table, rent a car atlanta ga fire ring, potable water and a washroom with flush toilets, but no showers, electric, of WiFi at the campground.
This campground is higher elevation, so expect it to catch some moisture from the clouds when there is a weather system moving across the area, due to the elevation (+/-3,800'), rent a car atlanta ga so expect a heavy dew in the morning.
These campsites are non too large. While I had enough room to set up my 4 man dome tent, there wasn't a whole lot of extra room left over. Most of the campsites in this loop are also set on the side/edge of an embankment, which somewhat compounds this, but in reality, there is enough room. The loop is teardrop shaped, rent a car atlanta ga with the washroom/water located in the center.
There was a group of 4 other riders with small 1, or 2 man tents who managed to squeeze everything in on 1 site, if I recall correctly. I had a good visit with them after dinner. They were all from PA.
Looks doable for me as a 2nd nighter - I'd hate a 6 hour interstate run all the way up, but could do that too. Nice price; I wonder what winter is like up that high and if my carbed bike will even RUN...never been much higher than 3k yet.

I came thru that area at the end of February this year. Expect a lot of rain during this time of year. Ran into 3 hailstorms right in that area finally ended up camping at the Hampton Inn in Boone. The follow day was a repeat of the same type of weather with the addition of fog. You can expect a lot of fog at those elevations during the winter months.
Yuk. And we hate to go south, rent a car atlanta ga because the world down there is flat. Most my trips are saved for and tight budget, so I can't imagine getting winter-soaked up in the mountains and laying up multiple nights rent a car atlanta ga in a motel somewhere. Scary.
If you haven't done it yet...you really need to make the BRP a must ride in the summer months. rent a car atlanta ga It is a joy to ride and probably my favorite. I 've done several sections of the PW several times and will go back until the they take my wheels away from me. Based upon you r comments regarding your bike ....you should be just fine. There is a great MC specific Campground...Willsville just over the NC/VA line. I am sure you'd enjoy staying there....the place is really well maintained....
I've always dissed KOA's after being turned rent a car atlanta ga away back in the day. They just didn't want the long-haired, chopper riding crazies mixing with the Ozzie and Harriet crowds. rent a car atlanta ga Might eat the kiddies or something...rape and pillage...all rent a car atlanta ga that fun stuff.
Since motorcycling has become far more mainstream you don't see this attitude rent a car atlanta ga quite as much anymore. Wasn't that long ago I was turned away at the door to a restaurant for wearing leathers that now hangs a sign out front 'WELCOME BIKERS! . In a lot of ways I miss the 'old days' of biking, although the bikes and the gear are a lot nicer now.
I lived near and rode the BRP almost daily and the park folks don't like bikes waking people up and buzzing rent a car atlanta ga the camp grounds rattling peoples nerves. I can't blame them. My bikes are not quite, so I make sure to idle in and short shift around the sites.
When I pulled in they were always nice, but I've seen guys with straight pipes get noticed in the wrong way. It only takes a few idiots to get drunk and loud to ruin it for all motorcycle campers. Right or wrong, non-riders have no clue and stereotype people on motorcycles rent a car atlanta ga into the outlaw biker crowd regardless if they are on a Wing or a BMW, or even a Burgman.
But, I have never been turned away from any BRP camp site even on a dirty and loud KTM 950. With at least two motorcycle rent a car atlanta ga campgrounds along the BRP, you have better places to stay anyway. They cost less, are moto friendly and they are full service. With the site rates at $20 per night now I rather stay at a motorcycle CG now or go into a real primitive area.
