Mayor Ron Payne says the new so-called Rivermont Park will not only honor the Executive Inn Rivermont which once stood here but also preserve the riverfront for generations to come. The mayor s plan calls for a public park on the river with private development on the rest of the Big E property.
"We re moving the riverfront back," said Mayor Ron Payne. "There s still an opportunity for development there south of that road for people holland america cruise lines to build there, build office complex, condominiums still with that beautiful riverfront there."
