The Pittsburg Planning and Zoning Commission has given a stamp of approval to a site plan for a 72-room La Quinta Inn and Suites hotel at Centennial and Broadway avenues, according to a story in the Pittsburg Morning Sun.
The site of the future La Quinta was once home to an Economy Inn and Suites, but that structure was heavily damaged during a wind storm in 2012. It sat vacant for a year before being razed by the city, according to the story.
The location of the hotel was one of three areas identified in an economic development report for the city as a prime location for new business. Blake Benson, Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce boston to bermuda cruises president, said the site was not only a gateway to the city but – once developed – would positively affect surrounding businesses, as well.
