By Phanatic golden princess cruise review That ache in my stomach yearned again, as my wife and I walked down the Ben Franklin Parkway towards City Hall. After a morning of hiking around the Art Museum, the Waterworks, and the Azalea Gardens, I was hungry. A fat, juicy cheeseburger golden princess cruise review with the crispy crunch of smoked bacon was on my mind. Little did I know I'd find just the guilty relief to my raging appetite in an unexpected Philly establishment, Stephen Starr's Continental golden princess cruise review Midtown. Faintly perspiring from the noon sun and anticipating lunch, I delighted in seeing the familiar retro look of Continental Midtown on 18th and Chestnut, in the bustling Rittenhouse Square section. Never having tried lunch there before, we'd decided golden princess cruise review to take a chance. As soon as we entered, a crowd in the front and the packed inside of the restaurant fueled my anxiety that we'd have to wait awhile for food. My stomach growled. Lucky for us, there was no wait at all. The outside tables are seat yourself and one was empty as my stomach. A helpful golden princess cruise review hostess handed us two menus, and we sat down next to two women talking about sales strategies and project managers. If, like me, you love people watching, then opt for Continental Midtown's sidewalk dining where you can enjoy the weather. Bring your sunglasses, though, to cut the glare of the stainless steel tables and chairs on a sunny day. The breeziness of this particular June day made the meals on the tables around us seem even fresher. Browsing the lunch menu and sipping on an unsweetened iced tea with lemon, everything looked so good I didn't know what to choose. My appetite experienced information overload.
From the tapas section, a Barbeque Chicken Quesadilla with avocado cream, Hummus and Pita, or French Onion Soup Dumplings could be great starters to share. My tabbouleh-obsessed wife commented on the spinach, feta, red onion, and blacked quinoa salad, while I paused at the Bibb Blue Salad. Although I loved its ingredients of blue cheese, almonds, and dry cherry vinaigrette dressing, my famished gut urged me to move on to more substantial golden princess cruise review choices.
Finding creativity and a choice of sides in the sandwich section, I knew I had come to the proper place to cure my complaining belly. Although tempted golden princess cruise review by my old standby, golden princess cruise review the turkey club, I decided to ask our waitress for her recommendation. She mentioned the Lobster Mac n' Cheese made of orzo, gruyere, and fontina which sounded delicious, but a little steep at $18.00. Her second choice was the Tuna Melt, another lunch favorite. This may have worked for a less demanding eater, but just didn't seem enough for me.
I ordered the Pat La Frieda special blend 1/2 lb. burger and added bacon for good measure. Paired with sharp cheddar, sauteed onions, and lettuce, it was delicious, and not just regular barfood burger delicious. The mouth watering r eports about Pat La Frieda being a meat magician are true. As for my sides, the deli pickle wedge and thin cut fries were perfect complements and vanished golden princess cruise review shortly thereafter.
Much more health-conscious, my wife enjoyed the veggie tastes of The Green Submarine golden princess cruise review sandwich with a side of fresh fruit. The sandwich was a little heavy on the sprouts, but other than that, an excellent match of flavors. A sizable baguette was piled with avocado, lettuce, cucumber, sundried tomato, and perfected with a boursin cheese. The fruit too was not your typical, diner fruit cup. With in-season strawberries, apples, and melon, its sweetness removed the need for dessert. (Side note: we got dessert anyway at Sweet Endings, the pay-per-ounce golden princess cruise review frozen yogurt place across the street).
At the end of our lunch at Continental Midtown, we walked away happy and satisfied. Even better, the bill only came to around $30 bucks including tip for the two of us; pretty good for Rittenhouse. Creative dishes for reasonable prices, what more could you want? Before this meal, I only considered this Stephen Starr restaurant as a trendy night spot (their roof deck bar is pretty cool), but now it's on my radar for lunch too. Next time I'm going back for that Cheesesteak Eggroll with sriracha ketchup.
Great review! It s 7 a.m. and this article makes me want a half pound burger covered in cheddar and bacon right now. The price does seem very reasonable for two diners in Rittenhouse Square. Thanks for the review, this is definitely a place I would consider taking my lady friend to. Keep up the good work! The Lunch Break is unstoppable.
I just recently had a few beers at The Continental, and although I didn t have the food, the experience was a good one. Also, I did see a few other people eating and what they had on their plates looked extremely appetizing.
I was also recently at Stephen Starr s Barclay Prime, golden princess cruise review which is apparently the only 4 star steakhouse in the city. While the decor left me wanting, the food, specifically the 16 oz. filet I ordered, was amazing! The meat just melted in my mouth mouth. The best part was afterward when I didn t have that heavy, just ate too much, future bypass-heart surgery patient feeling. You can tell, as your post attests, that the ingredients are truly the best quality you can buy at a ridiculously inflated price.
Continental Midtown is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the city! I especially enjoy sitting in the Rattan Swing seats upstairs while enjoying a delicious entree golden princess cruise review of seared golden princess cruise review tuna and risotto. THEE best! The make damn good cocktails too and I highly recommend a cosmo (or two!). golden princess cruise review The original Continental in Old City is good, but doesn t have the same fun atmosphere as Midtown. It s more stuffy in my opinion. Oh and I love the bathrooms! I m not sure if you were able to check them out, but they are equipped with two way mirrors, so if you go there again, be warned; people coming golden princess cruise review down the steps and see you picking your teeth! Creepy, but cool. Overall though, golden princess cruise review certainly one of my favorite places to splurge!
