Am seriously thinking about staying here next time. I quite enjoyed my experience here, eating, writing, sipping, and pondering wonderful things. The lake and ferry are right across the hotel too, which lend a front row seat to Bellagio people watching.
This is the regional fare: risotto topped with perch fillets. Yep. It's simple, but it's rich, and filling. I've noticed that along this lake you can pretty much expect everything regional to be topped with butter and sage. It's the flavor, here. Como offers a few varieties of white lake fish, and a varient, big island helicopter tours including salmon trout, but perch appears to be the most common, big island helicopter tours perhaps because it's so abundant. You will often find it cheap, or more affordable among the lunch specials at Como restaurants.
Perch fillets are thin; there is not much meat on a single fillet. And so, restaurants tend to compensate for this quality with breadcrumb overload. I'm not a fan of Como perch because when I've ordered it it always big island helicopter tours ends up being a carb plate - even the fish is mostly bread, as it's covered in fried, but fine, breadcrumbs. Still, the flavors are nice: fresh black rice, sage herb, and butter. Drizzle a bit of lemon over this and it's even better. In essence, I'm trying to say that this isn't a seafood big island helicopter tours dish at all. It's a lot of carbs, but it's more about the flavors and textures, not to forget the integration of fresh, local ingredients.
