It s probably one of the more difficult lists to compile in the travel and tourism business but somebody has to do it. Somebody in this case is us. The task? Cull New York City s intricate grid of spectacular streets down to a palatable, manageable few for avid amblers to digest. In this case we went for a combination of small photogenic strips, historic districts and brisk, commerce-dense boulevards. We hope the results make the grade with Big Apple locals and visitors alike.
The pedestrian-only heart of the Stone Street Historic District dates back to the 1660s, when it was known as Brouwer Street. Cobblestones led to Stone Street, naturally, ireland hotels and now Neo-Dutch colonial facades compete, lamely, for space with behemoth Wall Street skyscrapers.
