There is nothing I like better than going on a long road trip. If you need to get somewhere cheap car rental long term new york quickly, airplanes are the way to go. If you want to have fun, you need to travel by automobile. Motels used to leave postcards in the room for guests to use. It was a good way to advertise their establishment. I would always take them, and mail them to people. Sometimes I had a few left over. What you will see today, are a few of my leftover post cards. They range in age from the 1950's to the 1990's. Most, but not all, of these motels still exist today. I was always wanting to stay where they had a swimming pool. If there is a pool in the photo, I swam in it! Having a large sign which could be seen from the highway was very important. Fasten your seat-belt as we travel the highways and byways cheap car rental long term new york of America on the open road, and look for a nice place to spend the night.

Not a motel. Baron Manfred von Vierthaler Winery, Sumner, Washington 1990's Restaurant features German and American cuisine. Manfred, from Frankfurt, was a model train enthusiast, and had a train shop there as well.

Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge 1960's. This is a generic company postcard with no address attached. It is in the southeastern US somewhere, or rather was. The motor inns were once everywhere, but there are not many around cheap car rental long term new york anymore. cheap car rental long term new york They used to advertise their 31 flavors of ice cream in their restaurants. My favorite chain of inns to stop at. Their trademark was the orange roof with the church-like bell tower on top.
Some motels allowed animals, but you had to pay a little extra money. Other times, I just sneaked him in with the luggage. I put his litter box in the bathrooms. In Kansas, we had a tornado near the motel. The sirens were sounding. In the parking lot, my car was rocking back and forth. I thought it would roll over, but it did not. My wife and child were with me. I put the cat into his carrier. What should we do? The advice is to go into the bathroom, and lie down in the bathtub. There was not enough room for everybody. So, we put Tiger's cat carrier into the tub with my child! The cat should be allowed to live! Fortunately the tornado did not strike the motel. The next day we continued on our journey. Tiger got loose in a parking lot once, during the trip. He did not run, but meowed a lot, and was easily scooped up.
I have a very large postcard collection, because in the past, you did not always know if the film in your camera would develop well or not! Postcards were my insurance. Here is a sample card from New Mexico, "Saddling Up Big Jack in New Mexico."
It is better to buy a postcard, than to try to get close to one of these big jackrabbits with a camera! The card says, "It is not unusual to break these big fellows, and use them for ranch work." You would be surprised at how many carrots one can eat!
These cards are so nostalgics! Cars, furniture, clothes from past, they make me fell very excited! I loved your photos! Tiger the cat was a fantastic companion, sharing great adventures with you and your family! I d like to travel with my cats too, but I m pretty sure that things wouldn t going that easy: they are very afraid about meeting new things!! Travelling with ONE cat is not too difficult. Travelling with more than one cat would require extra efforts and preparations. These cards remind me of good times in my life. I shall post some more some day in the future. Delete Reply Add comment Load more...
