This was another busy week in Florence! ebay united kingdom Monday morning I had to get my fingerprints ebay united kingdom done at the police ebay united kingdom station in order to complete my permit of stay. I know it sounds crazy that with only a month left until I return ebay united kingdom to America I would be completing my permit of stay. But that's how things work in Italy -- very slowly. ebay united kingdom Later that day I had a presentation in my mafia class -- pretty sure I killed it.
In cooking class, we made our last meal before our written and practical finals. We made ham and cheese risotto, ebay united kingdom cheese gnocchi, chicken an for dessert a chocolate spoon cake! A successful day in cooking class.
Wednesday in printmaking class I began I really enjoy the printmaking process it was a relaxing day where we got to work on whichever projects we wanted andddd we got to print in color! So much fun! By the time I got home Meaghan and Molly had arrived in Florence! They were coming to visit from Galway. We went out to eat at Dante's right next door. It was delicious as always! It was so much fun seeing them! I can't believe it has been almost a month since we went to visit them in Ireland!
Galway who are quite used to the rain. So we explored Florence a little. We took them to see Massimo so that they could buy a leather jacket! Then we walked around the leather ebay united kingdom market and stopes ebay united kingdom for some gelato. ebay united kingdom That night we went out to Pizzaiuolo for dinner. Another ebay united kingdom delicious meal! Pizzaiuolo never fails!
Friday morning we left for Rome! I was so sad to say goodbye to Molly and Meaghan. It felt like they just arrived! But I was excited to go to Rome and it was with our program so I knew it was going to be a nice trip. Our hotel was very nice. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms so warm! Oddly it felt colder in Rome that morning than it had in Florence. So our day began with a walking tour of Vatican City. It was interesting to be leaving Italy to enter Vatican City. We saw some museums on our way through. We went into the Egyptian museum and saw a real mummy! Then we went into the Sistine Chapel! I might be crazy but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I was going to be. I mean don't get me wrong the artwork was amazing but the guards yelling no foto or silence really killed the mood. Not I mention the idiots who continued to attempt to sneak photos. Afterwards we headed over to Saint Peter's Basilica -- that was amazing! It was huge and I loved how mass was actually held inside! After a rest, we went out to dinner with the program. It was a delicious and huge meal! We had a platter ebay united kingdom of meat, cheese and jam followed by a platter of fried food! For the first course we had spinach ravioli. Then we had some roast beef and arugula. Then for dessert some tiramisu! It was such a fun meal with our entire program! Then we all went to the Trevi Fountain. It was so beautiful at night!! I loved it and we took so many pictures.
ebay united kingdom Saturday we got to sleep in a little bit and had an amazing breakfast ebay united kingdom at the hotel complete with donuts, croissants, juice and eggs! That day we had a tour of Rome itself. We started out at the Colosseum. Too bad it was raining cats and dogs! Not the best way to see the Colosseum! But by the time we were leaving it did stop raining and I got to truly appreciate this massive building. It really is huge! Next we were off to see some ancient Roman ruins. We saw te place where Romulus and Remus were said to be born. Next we were off to the Pantheon. A fun fact for everyone -- the height to the dome of the Pantheon is the same as the diameter! Afterwards the tour was over and we went to the Trevi Fountain ebay united kingdom to see it during the daylight. It is so funny because it really is in the middle of no where all tucked into a corner. You would expect it to be in a big piazza or something. It no its not really that big of a square at all -- just enough room for a road to go by. It might be because of its role in the Lizzy Maguire movie but the Trevi Fountain was my favorite part of Rome. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel and stopped for lunch on the way and hung out until it was time to catch our train home to Florence!
Sunday was a day full of lounging and relaxing and procrastinating. Finals are coming soon and I am so not ready to study while studying abroad. I can't believe that in less than two weeks I will be home in America. It is so weird to think that all of my traveling is over until I travel home! So crazy! I can't believe that a hole semester has gone by -- not that I can't wait to come home and see everyone because I miss everyone a lot, but it is so sad to know that my adventures studying abroad are soon coming to an end.
Hi, I'm Andrea and I am currently ebay united kingdom living ebay united kingdom in Florence, Italy for the Fall 2012 semester! I am going to try to post in this blog at least once a week to keep everyone updated on my adventures in Europe especially in Florence. Ciao!
