I was looking at schedules on Delta.com, and noticed that DL will be using the A332 on SLC - CDG starting 6/1 instead of the usual 763. It's not a huge change at an additional 31 seats per day, but the 332's less premium-heavy configuration should actually work well on this route.
SLC isn't going to produce airline travel for pets a great deal of premium fare paying passengers. AF is stepping in to cover MSP - CDG and some have been concerned if that didn't happen DL would have shifted the route to MSP .

Quoting OA412 ( Thread starter ): I was looking at schedules on Delta.com, and noticed airline travel for pets that DL will be using the A332 on SLC - CDG starting 6/1 instead airline travel for pets of the usual 763. Not exactly a huge change in J capacity, according to delta.com airline travel for pets the 332 has 32 J class seats, airline travel for pets the 76T in the new flat bed configuration has 36 seats but one of those is reserved for crew rest so 32 vs 35? There are an extra 35 seats between these configurations in Y/Y+. From my ancedotal experience this flight seems to do well in the Y cabin (though J was full a couple of weeks ago when I was 'up front') so I think the extra 35 seats of revenue should be good.
This makes more sense. Several people have posted that DL was going to discontinue SLC - CDG . Given reports that the route does very well and it's a strategic hub-to-hub route, I would have been surprised to see it discontinued.
Why was SLC - NRT discontinued? Were the loads poor or was it just a takeoff and weight performance problem out of SLC ? I believe they had to block out some seats on the westbound flight. SLC - NRT is a perfect route for the 787.
Either 7 or 8A, I forget which, was being used as crew rest when I flew a couple of weeks ago. there are studs on the overhead bin for a curtain to be attached to. The second pilot made his bed there for the evening.
Quoting redzeppelin ( Reply 8 ): I suspect that it will rotate via CDG , like the current 763 does. That is the only international configured 763 that visits SLC right now, and it comes in from CDG and turns right back.
Doesn't the current aircraft fly a W pattern, something like ATL - CDG - SLC - CDG - ATL . As while the arrival/departure times in SLC allow a straight turnaround, the flight arriving in CDG arrives after the outbound flight to SLC ?
I'm afraid that DL 's build-up of Asian capacity at SEA will work against the reintroduction of SLC - NRT any time soon. I've heard the same things as you--it took a weight penalty westbound, loads were otherwise supposed to be good, but rumors say the yields were low. Add in some chatter that the 332 wasn't the right plane. A future 787 would be great, and you can't ignore how it mirrors the upcoming UA DEN - NRT service. I know that DL uses a 763 on PDX - NRT . Could the 763 work for SLC - NRT ? Or would it also have to take restrictions?
PDX is at sea-level. SLC is not so I think that's the issue. A 767-300 could do the range of SLC - NRT if SLC were at sea-level. A 777-200LR could do it with no problem, but that's probably too big of an airplane for SLC - NRT . It is an ideal 787 route if DL were getting any soon. The 787 has enabled new non-stop service to NRT from DEN , BOS , SAN and SJC so far.
There is still three 767s on ATL - SLC daily in the summer so the A330 is not coming from ATL as of now. Maybe routed thru CDG . I m just happy to see the A330 in SLC again. 767s are cool but love to see the A330 in SLC
Quoting panamair ( Reply 16 ): You were probably on the 76L, which has the pilot rest seat at 7A. The 76T has separate pilot rest bunks in the area between Business airline travel for pets and Economy, so all J seats (36) are for sale.
