This was my fifth time taking this short weekend getaway to the Bahamas! I think it s your best bang for your buck and you get to spend an entire 24 hour period in Nassau, Bahamas with another day at sea to just sit back and relax.
Nassau is the major city of New Providence Island, one of the many tropical islands of the Bahamas known for their pretty beaches and Bahama Mama cocktails. Most likely if you take a cruise to any Bahamian island, the port that the ship docks is Nassau.
In Bahamas, we opted to do our own thing and not book any shore excursions on the ship. Our ship docked in the main tourist trap of Nassau. We walked to Shark Tank, which is a nice bar overlooking san antonio hotels the pier. The drinks are cheap and while you re dining you can use their wifi for free. On cabbage beach there are many people offering banana boat rides, parasailing and Jet-Ski s that are reasonably lower prices than on the cruise ship. We decided to take a taxi over the bridge this time, only $4 since it was rainy weather. We couldn t do the Cabbage beach option this trip because of the rainy weather. Once at Atlantis, my Boyfriend and I decided to try our luck in the casino. Since we had just came back from Las Vegas, we figured we had the machines down to win some Bahamian cash. Haha, we sure were wrong! Our luck didn t get any better this time around. After gambling, we walked to the market outside of Atlantis where you can do some shopping at many luxurious shops mixed with local boutiques before taking a taxi back to the cruise port.
On the ship there are plenty of activities to do. We went to the comedy show, which definitely is a good laugh while you re on the ship and the Illusion nightclub san antonio hotels is a great spot to hangout and have a few drinks. On previous trips, I ve done Karaoke night, played Jenga and gone to the Wine tastings.
