We walked to  Queen Victoria Market  (closed on M W), which opens from 6am – 2pm. At QVM, you can purchase fresh veg, fruits and you can even bring them back to Singapore. midtown cinema They were selling midtown cinema 2 punnets of strawberries for only AUD5. We bought lotsa nuts from QVM. We also bought honey and cheese. If the weather is good, pack some food from QVM and go to  Flagstaff Gardens  which is nearby for picnic.
After your picnic, you can head to  Swanston Street  for shopping where you can find Supre, JayJay and other surf shops. If you need a break, go to one of the cafes at Hardware St. The popoular one will be  Hardware Societe  (118-120 Hardware St) but we settled for Manchester Press. Hardware St and its surrounding area is a nice place to chill. Many cafes for you to choose from.
Manchester Press is hidden in the alley, which adds some Hipster points to this café. You will actually see another café, Brother Baba Budan, before you walk into the alley, but DO NOT get tempted by the coffee aroma. Stay focus and head to Manchester Press. Manchester Press resembles a warehouse, very minimalistic design and has very nice art pieces hanging from the wall.  Atmosphere was great. People were doing work on their laptops, students were chatting, business people were having a break. Breakfast is served all day. We had toasted  plain bagel with smoked salmon, dill cream cheese and baby capers  (AUD13) which we thought was reasonably priced. We asked for more dill cream cheese and they gave us a huge extra serving of it. We also had  Latte  (AUD3.50) which was silky smooth. We would love to spend more time there but shopping beckons!
For dinner, we went to  Tsindos Greek  in Greek Precinct for Cypriot food. I love Cypriot food. My first time having it was in London and I missed Taramosalata dip very much. Food is reasonably priced. midtown cinema Go check out other Greek restaurants in the area.
Hammer Tong opened in Fitzroy early 2013, and the main entrance is along a street beside Brunswick. This place serves exceptional coffee with beans by Prahran roasters, Dukes and it serves very awesome midtown cinema food as well. Brunch at Hammer Tong is on weekends, till 3pm and dinner is offered from Tuesdays to Saturdays. When we were there on a Saturday morning at 11am, there was a long queue in front of us. The waiter was super nice and kept assuring that he will come back to us soon. Many people who came in, saw the snake-long queue and decided to find another place nearby for brunch instead. Too bad for them, cos this place is awesome!
The  English muffin with poached eggs, istra bacon, black pepper hollandaise and pepper (AUD17) is eggs benedict poached to perfection – very delicate and runny. The English muffins were soaked in the yolks. Sedap!!!
If you prefer to not wait for seats at Hammer Tong, you can always go to Industry Beans which is nearby. We walked past it and it looked pretty hipster as well. The aroma of the coffee beans also filled the air even before we saw the place. It looks like a nice place to chill out.
After our very satisfying meal in Hammer Tong, we went to Rose Street Artist Market . The Rose St. Artists’ Market operates every Saturday and Sunday. The hours of operation are 11am till 5pm while the café beside the market, Young Bloods midtown cinema Diner opens at 9am. If you are into home made jewellery, soap, candles, this market is the place for you. It’s a really small market and we didn’t get anything there. midtown cinema You can also chill out at Young Bloods Diner, which seems like a pretty decent place.
After going in and out of shops, shops and more shops, we took a break at Atomica Caffe along Brunswick. This is a very small café which didn’t look like it can offer much but we were so tired of shopping, we had to take a break.
The Atomica Caffé has been at 268 Brunswick Street since 1996. It was the first café in the area to roast coffee beans on the premises, and one of the first combined café/roasteries in the world. It has been around for 17 years. We had a butter crossiant with extra butter midtown cinema which was heavenly, and a hot mocha which was equally heavenly in such cold weather. It’s a pretty midtown cinema neat café!
