There are plenty of options for a night in The Eternal City, but I knew I wanted to stay at the St. Regis Grand, one of the most luxurious and stately hotels in all of Rome, and a top-tier Category 7 SPG property. become a licensed travel agent It s a storied hotel located right on the border of Municipo I and II, adjacent to the Republica train station, and about 35 minutes from Leonardo di Vinci Fiumicino Airport.
Upon approaching the property, I was immediately struck by the grandiose entrance, stately doors and a gorgeous Bentley waiting to chauffeur the best of the best through their Bentley Experience . When I walked become a licensed travel agent inside the property, I was greeted by a smiling front desk agent waiting by the front door and ready to welcome me to the hotel, which I was informed was built in 1894 by famed hotelier Ceásar Ritz and was landmarked by the city.  The lobby is covered in marble busts, beautiful Murano glass chandeliers, and soaring ceilings.
I was surprised to see a tablet on the countertop for check-in that streamed images of the property become a licensed travel agent and served as a paperless check-in. All of my SPG information was stored on file and make the process very quick and efficient.
The lovely front desk agent who checked me in walked me to the elevator and straight to my room on the second floor. I noticed as I walked become a licensed travel agent down the hallways that there were bronze placards outside every room, each with a different name. I approached my room and saw that I was to be in Fontana di Piazza become a licensed travel agent Campitelli. become a licensed travel agent Seeing as to how the property is located between two fountains: the Moses fountain (by Domenico Fontana, better known as the Display of happy water ) and the Najada fountain become a licensed travel agent (in Piazza become a licensed travel agent della Repubblica), it seemed appropriate that my room had a fountain-y name.
The room itself was traditional St. Regis comfort mixed with Roman opulence. A giant chandelier hanging over the bed from the ceiling with beautiful crown molding highlighted by gold leaf work and heavy curtains.
Being that my room was an interior facing, I overlooked become a licensed travel agent the interior courtyard. Although the view was nothing special (I was looking at the top of the lobby), it did provide a stunning amount of sunlight to stream into the room.
The bathroom was a marble explosion, with a very large soaking tub as well as a separate stand-up shower with rain shower head. Bath amenities were by Labortoire Remède, standard in most St. Regis properties.
One of the most gorgeous and glamourous lobbies in Europe has to be in the St. Regis Grand Rome. It s soaring gilded ceiling is centered become a licensed travel agent by a giant Murano glass chandelier, and below is Le Grand Bar, which serves a wide selection of cocktails, champagnes and aperitifs, and where one can also find the breakfast buffet in the lobby. The property also houses Ristorante Vivendo, which features classic Italian food in an1930s and 40s atmosphere. I did not have the opportunity to dine there, but I did take the concierge s recommendation and head to Ristorante La Pentolaccia for a fantastic low-key and affordable become a licensed travel agent Roman meal, and I highly recommend taking the five minute walk there.
The morning after my slumber, I had breakfast in the lobby by Le Grand Bar, which was has a very nice spread including a chef making custom become a licensed travel agent omelets, fresh juices, and a Moët Chandon station, a luxury that is hard to say no to before a long flight home.
In addition to the restaurant and Le Grand Bar, the restaurant also features wine tasting through the Di Vino program and at 7pm hosts the nightly champagne sabering ritual, a St. Regis classic experience that can t be missed. The hotel is also home to kamiSpa Fitness , the first urban Oriental spa in Europe where you can book massages, facials and a plethora of spa services, the venue hosts many lavish events in their ballrooms and is the perfect setting for a wedding or corporate meeting.
The St. Regis Grand is really a stunning property. From the moment you cross through the vestibule, become a licensed travel agent Bentley waiting outside and you see the staff in their pill-box caps, you know that you are about to enter into old-world glamour. With a staff that is accommodating, polite and ready to assist in any way possible, they have mastered the art of customer service. I loved walking become a licensed travel agent through the long hallways and feeling like I was walking through the halls of a palace. The stately rooms were what you d expect from St. Regis and an SPG Category 7 property.
I was only at the St. Regis Grand for one night, and if I was to stay in Rome for more time, I d most likely want to stay in a more centralized location. The property is located near the dreary   Stazione Termini, and although it s walkable to The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain and only 30 minutes to the Colosseum, it s a  strong hourlong walk to Vatican City and the hip Trastevere area of the city. Still however the area is not all bad and there are plenty of restaurants or shops to keep you busy.
I was incredibly impressed with this property, however it was not a surprise to me. Given that the St. Regis brand stands become a licensed travel agent for elegance and opulence, the Grand Rome really fit the bill. My room was stately and comfortable, the staff was top notch and even just walking through the lobby and hallways, you felt like you would run into Sophia Loren or Isabella Rossellini. It is an expensive become a licensed travel agent hotel, but it is worth it!
I was able to secure a low rate of only $337 ( € 248) through a special promotional rate and I paid with my Sapphire Preferred card to avoid foreign transaction fees and net 2.14x points per dollar spent, which is much lower than the average rate of $564 ( €414) for a Superior King Room. If you were interested in booking this rate using your Starpoints, the rooms are at the highest end of the Starpoint redemption level and will cost 35,000 points a night during the peak season (30,000 off-peak), but the cost comes down for longer stays since the fifth night is free on award stays and cash and points is 15,000 points + $275 per night when available.
