The AVIS and Budget rental car promotion I posted in July was supposed to expire today (August 31, 2012), but it has been extended to September 15, 2012 . The offer link in my original post still works and reflects the new offer expiration date. You just need to begin your rental by September 15, 2012 .
In addition, there is a similar but BETTER  Budget promotion going on now until September 30, 2012. You can earn as many as 10,000 AAdvantage miles, as long as your rental begins by September everglades air boat tours 30, 2012 .
The new offer starts to make sense for a rental of 5+ days, assuming the AVIS and Budget quotes are equal. If you are able to find good back-to-back AVIS rates, it makes sense to stop by the airport daily to maximize your miles.

Thanks for posting this.  I was able to cancel a reservation at the end of September from a lower end company and book the Budget deal with the USAA discount code at a lower rate and pick up 4K AA miles!
Have been doing Avis back to back for 6000miles a day for 2 cars, rented at economy $17 per day weekends and $29 weekdays and the nice guys at my airport are upgrading  me to Mustang, everglades air boat tours VW Passat, BMW X3, Ford Explorer etc at no extra charge.   Will end up with more than 220k AA miles.
Thank you Jimmy for the quick update.  I ve been renting from Avis for the past few weekend everglades air boat tours at a closeby airport (weekday everglades air boat tours rates are too high to adjustify even with bonus miles).  Since the promotional offer has been extended and I picked up additional days this past weekend.  However, I noticed that the bonus 3000 miles did not show on the receipt for cars that I rented 9/1 and 9/2, only the regular 50 AA miles.  Not sure if this only happened to me, I have not called everglades air boat tours Avis customer service yet.
