The 22-year-old Canelo doesn't have an opponent as of yet, but could see him in against WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout. He's the only fighter the sisterhood of the traveling pants the movie that has been consistently mentioned for Canelo, and it's kind of a situation where if Canelo doesn't face him he'll take major heat from the boxing world.
Trout beat Miguel Cotto last December, and Canelo was supposed to fight Cotto if he won that fight. As it turns out, Canelo would have been better off keeping quiet about his interest in facing Cotto because then there would have been the huge pressure on him to take on Trout next after he defeated Cotto.

Mayweather is still expected to be facing Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero on May 4th despite Mayweather's recent comments on twitter about possibly facing IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander instead.

Canelo, yes is young and probably does not have the ability to back down from anyone , however he is not a pushover and I believe he can take Mayweather or Trout in a knockout fashion, remember when you are young nothing is impossible!
if Canelo s ego has no problem with it, an undercard bout v. Trout begins to make sense. IMO, that s all Trout is. it s a shame that there is no equally-prestigious opponent for Alvarez the sisterhood of the traveling pants the movie to headline against. in fact, Trout is more a contiunation of the type of Canelo opponent that so many are complaining about. IMO, even Angulo would provide a more intriguing matchup. otherwise, there s no particular sense of anticipation or suspense for watching Alvarez break down and KO the unproven and barely-tested Trout. at least not as a headliner. as an undercard, it begins to become interesting.

Instead they re likely going to exploit Mexican boxing fans loyalty by throwing another jr welterweight at Canelo who will eat him like a shark on chum, again.

No Doubt Trout gets the KNOCKED THE F#CK OUT!!! That will be the headlines in the boxing world on May 5th. Unless Trout proves to have a chin and simply gets outworked. Essentially, Canelo is a younger, faster, stronger, and better conditioned version of Miguel Cotto. While Trout was able to get a unanimous decision over Cotto, he left himself far to open in many occasions. Austin Trout will easily outbox Alvarez. Canelo doesn t know how to use his feet or throw punches from different angles. It will be a one sided decision victory for Trout and Canelo will be exposed. Comparing Alvarez to Cotto is an insult to Cotto considering he is hall of fame worthy and Canelo has never even faught a B level fighter.
Cotto was not old or slow against Floyd he was just Cotto and Floyd is well??? Floyd Trout is a TRUE Jr MW who could probably fight at MW if he choose to do so, he was demonstrably stronger than Miguel the sisterhood of the traveling pants the movie and his size presented and obvious issue when coupled with his skills I see that as a matchup issue, whereas Canelo is not the biggest SMW but he is obviously strong and likely to grow
