I have been traveling around the United States for two weeks now (Pennsylvania, New York, Oregon, California…) from coast to coast in a huge country like the US. It is not my first time, but it is a pity there were no rental apartments discount cruise deals for one person (there are quite a few San Sebastian apartments like this) because they are way more comfortable than staying at a hotel. Specially because since I am traveling alone I prefer take away food instead of going to a restaurant because discount cruise deals I can eat it at the hotel with my pyjamas on (a microwave would be most welcome since from the restaurant to the hotel room the food gets pretty cold).
Since I am traveling so much and taking so many planes, I have been living on sandwiches for most of the time…and a few days are ok, but two weeks…and of course being from San Sebastian what I miss most are our pintxos, miniature gourmet cooking. When you are in a hurry you can take a few of them with a nice glass of txakoli (local wine) and you are all set.
The great thing about the States is that you can actually eat any kind of food since it is such an international country: Japanese, Indian, Korean, Chinese, Italian, Greek…you name it…you have it!!! That is what I love most about traveling abroad.
One of the things that has really surprised me is that a lot of people in the US have been to San Sebastian or know somebody that has been to it. And they all agree on two things: it is an astonishing city and the food is gorgeous.
The other day I was at Phoenix airport to take a flight to Portland and I started chatting with a wonderful woman that when she heard my accent discount cruise deals she asked me where I was from and what I did for a living. I told her I was from San Sebastian and that I worked for a company called emyrEnt that rents holiday apartments in San Sebastian …what a small world!!!!! Two years ago she had been in San Sebastian with her husband and her daughter.
She remembered vividly how wonderful the pintxos at the Old Part were and the safe and relaxed atmosphere in the whole city. We had a really nice conversation discount cruise deals and she asked me for my card to give to her friends in Portland in case they wanted to rent an apartment in San Sebastian (apparently, she had not stopped talking discount cruise deals about her stay to her friends since then!!).
That made me really homesick, but in 5 days I will be back home and the very first thing I am going to do is eat a few pintxos with a couple of Txakolis… after all, home is home for all of us, isn´t it? You may be having a great time wherever you are, you may love the country you are visiting…but after a while you are ready to go home.
