"I'd like to get out and play tomorrow, I'm going to tee off early, and see if I can get something hot, get a hot round going and try to make up some ground," he said. "But then I also want to have the big picture in mind, so I'm not quite sure where I'm at yet."
"I just can't stand bogeying the last hole with sand wedge in the middle of the fairway; that's a terrible way to finish," he said. "But I probably would have taken it (73) at the start of the round."
Bubba Watson, playing the South Course's 18th hole on the projected cut line of even par, lays up on the par 5. It's smart as he knocks a wedge pin high and inside 10 feet, then makes the birdie try to finish at 1 under after a 73. Fellow left-hander Phil Mickelson, also in Watson's group, wraps up a 73 with his fifth bogey of the day; he's 2 under.
Stewart Cink takes aim at the lead one last time, rifling a second shot at the long par-5 ninth on the South Course to about 15 feet. His eagle try misses, however, and he taps in for birdie to reclaim second alaskan cruises outright for the night at 9 under, one back of leader Jordan Spieth.

"I changed a little bit, put my weight more on my front foot today, noticed that was kind of causing a tendency to push it on the short putts for me; I was more stable over the ball," he told Golf Channel, adding that it's an improvement that can translate to the third round as well. "The South Course is a different animal than that North Course. So I just want to play exactly like I played it yesterday. If I'm putting a little alaskan cruises better on that course, I can still shoot 3 or 4 under and that's a great score. It's a U.S. Open-type venue, so I've got to keep the ball in the fairway."
"He's easy to play with, talks to us; same with Jimmy (Walker), they're both very easy, fun guys to play with," Spieth said. "We all played with some good speed, kept the tempo up.
