Armed with my ever-present cameras, texas travel guides I document my life adventures around the globe through photography. My passion for learning, texas travel guides journeys near far, wine, marathons my 2 Vizslas are shared through pictures and stories. Home
So .about texas travel guides Whistler. It s about a 90 mile drive from Vancouver up to this ski town that hosted the 2012 Winter Olympics. Unlike most other ski places I ve been to, the altitude is relatively low given its proximity to the ocean. This is great for avoiding altitude sickness, but seemed to be a slight detriment to the weather conditions (at least while we were in town). The town was all decorated for the holidays hubby enjoyed a local beer sampler while we watched the Fire Ice night stunt skiing trick out the window behind the bar.
The town itself has several areas where hotels are clustered texas travel guides that are severed by ski lifts. We stayed texas travel guides in the main Village, where there were tons of shops and restaurants, 2 gondolas and several lifts to get up the mountain. There were dozens of hotels in this area as well as other recreational places, like the ice skating rink tons of hiking trails.
We stayed at the Hilton, which was ideally situated between the 2 Gondola lifts. However, despite paying a fortune for the room, we only had parking lots views instead of views of the slopes. It s so entertaining to watch the slopes- both seeing the current conditions watching people come down all day long. Our view would have been better if the heavy fog (low clouds) didn t sit over the town most of the time we were there, blocking our view of all the surrounding mountains.
texas travel guides The mountain itself had some pros cons in my opinion. It was super easy to make reservations for ski school, purchase texas travel guides lift tickets, and reserve our gear rental online before arriving. We were there at the peak of holiday season, so it seemed very crowded to us the conditions were less than ideal while we were there. Generally, I wouldn t really recommend this mountain for beginners or those who stick to mostly green slopes.
We took the 10 minute walk over to the Blackcomb Base on our day off the mountain, texas travel guides and enjoyed a few drinks at the Four Seasons. There appeared to be tons of hiking biking trails connecting all the ski areas that would be ideal in the summer.
