One of our young, ambitious readers recently wrote and expressed san diego marriott hotel and marina his interest san diego marriott hotel and marina in obtaining a job such as my job at Royal Caribbean (he is a frequent cruiser with us, something I certainly wasn't when I was in college) or in top management at another large company. He wanted to know what suggestions I might have for him. Interestingly, he specifically noted he is involved san diego marriott hotel and marina in nonprofit work, which is near and dear to our hearts.
Table tennis is a fantastic game and I have greatly enjoyed my eight years of once a week lessons from my instructor Juan Ly. There are so many advantages to the game that it's a wonder it hasn't really escaped its status as a basement game children play. I played constantly until I was 12 and then not again until I was 43. I'm very happy I started up again and wish I hadn't waited 31 years.
If you want to read more about the organized sport of table tennis, try the official website of USA Table Tennis – teamusa.org. According to the site, Parker Brothers trademarked san diego marriott hotel and marina the name "ping pong" which explains why the sport must be known as table tennis today. The web site says there are 285+ clubs in the U.S. so there may be one near you. In other countries it's even more popular. When I play on the ships or at cruise industry events against all comers, I almost always find the players from other countries are tougher to play.
In case you haven't heard we recently announced that Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas are the names of our new Quantum Class of ships. Quantum of the Seas will join our Fleet in late 2014 and Anthem of the Seas in spring 2015.
While I still am not able to share details san diego marriott hotel and marina about the Quantum san diego marriott hotel and marina Class of ships, formerly known as "Project Sunshine", I can assure you that we are continuing to raise the bar of innovation and expectations of what our guests can do on a cruise vacation. We felt as though the name Quantum was a great fit since we are going a step above and propelling it forward. We're taking a quantum leap.
The word anthem is defined as a song of praise and Anthem of the Seas is indicative of many of the best qualities and features of Royal Caribbean International . Quantum represents a step change in cruising and anthem is a song of praise for that step.
Selecting the name of a new ship is an interesting process. It's even more interesting when we're developing a new ship class. We worked with a naming consultant who provided several different avenues to explore. We looked at names that were categorized san diego marriott hotel and marina as experiential names, cosmopolitan names, leading edge names and more. But with Quantum, we felt that the tone fit what we were seeking.
san diego marriott hotel and marina Quantum of the Seas is a name that everyone on our Project Sunshine Steering Committee immediately liked. We voted on paper when selecting the names and the results were pretty much unanimous. We all gravitated to the same two names.
We are working to set the stage and landscape for the future of cruise vacations with Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas . But you'll need to wait a bit longer until we can share the details with you.
The first half of the year will be the last with both of our children in the house full time. In September, our son will become our 3 rd generation Princetonian and the 4 th member of the family to attend PU. I am incredibly proud of David and while I don't look forward to him leaving the house, there is nowhere else I would rather have him be for the next four years than Princeton . Meanwhile, the four of us will do as much together as we can before he matriculates.

When the Royal Caribbean san diego marriott hotel and marina itineraries are developed for the upcoming season, does Royal Caribbean coordinate san diego marriott hotel and marina with Celebrity Cruises to try and reduce duplicate schedules or to spread out ship allocations to open up more ports and itineraries for the parent company? Adding the Celebrity 10 ships to the Royal Caribbean 22 for scheduling purposes, and then seeing where the schedules overlap, could permit the reallocation of one or two ships from either fleet to other areas for year-round or seasonal deployments. There are times when the Caribbean and parts of Europe seem saturated with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines ships as well as with ships from the other companies . – Jim M.
While the Royal Caribbean and Celebrity teams do work together by sharing information and best practices, it is ultimately up to each brand to decide what deployment is best suited for their guests. We do review the day by day itineraries with our sister brand to see if there are any adjustments that can alleviate port congestion and improve the experience for all of our guests.
While most people were getting ready for the holiday season, san diego marriott hotel and marina at Royal Caribbean International we were all busy finalizing our new global marketing platform. I know it sounds like a really tough job, because first we had to spend a week on Allure of the Seas shooting all the footage for the TV commercials and the photography for the print ads. It was great to be onboard and work with our amazing crew to get everything accomplished.
In fact, the crew and the onboard experience is really what inspired the new campaign. We wanted to convey that "WOW" feeling we hear time and time again from our guests – either when one of our crew has done something to "Deliver the WOW", or the natural expression our guests have when they walk into the Royal Promenade on Oasis or see an ice show or zip line or see their first Broadway Show or experience the FlowRider, or interact with one of the DreamWorks characters. These are all things that collectively can ONLY be found on Royal Caribbean .
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, our Executive Vice President of Operations, is one of the first people I met when starting my career at Royal Caribbean. In an effort to learn about the cruise business I joined Lisa in Boston for a couple of days where we visited several san diego marriott hotel and marina travel agencies, one of which was located in the back of a shoe store. But that is a story for another day. I asked Lisa to introduce herself to our readers, as she will frequently blog in this space, especially as we get closer to sharing details about Project Sunshine .
I was recently promoted to the role of Executive Vice President of Operations for Royal Caribbean International where I lead Marine, Land, and Hotel Operations which includes Entertainment and Activities, san diego marriott hotel and marina and Food and Beverage, and other fun areas like casino, shops, spa, and shore excursions.
I've worked for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. for over 27 rewarding years and had the pleasure of serving in various roles with both Celebrity Cruises san diego marriott hotel and marina and Royal Caribbean International . I am from Gloucester, Massachusetts and started working at Royal Caribbean in 1985, as the District Sales Manager for Canada and New England after graduating from Bentley College and a short career in the hotel industry. Over the years both Royal Caribbean and the cruise industry have dramatically grown and I have grown as well, taking on many roles in Sales, Marketing, and Operations. Watching our industry and our company grow has been a thrilling experience.
Every new year at Royal Caribbean International san diego marriott hotel and marina is full of promise and 2013 is no exception. Our shoreside teams have emerged from the vacation period ready for another hectic year. Our shipboard colleagues san diego marriott hotel and marina have finished serving our holiday cruise guests and are ready to begin the annual cycle again.
The most fundamental objective for the new year and for every year is to satisfy our customers. Our guests have high expectations as well they should. They have chosen to spend their hard earned savings on a Royal Caribbean cruise san diego marriott hotel and marina and it is our responsibility to ensure they receive great value for money. We try to do this through the three pillars of the Royal Advantage – the greatest cruise ships in the world, our friendly and engaging Gold Anchor Service and the outstanding experiences we enable at nearly 300 ports of call around the world.
Here we are at the end of another year that went by in a flash. My 24th year with the company has been one of the most interesting and challenging to be sure. The company and the industry have had to rally in response to both the tragedy in Italy and the economic malaise in the world especially in Europe.
We are oriented to emphasize the value of our products and services. During the last few years the value message has been essential as consumers strive to ensure every dollar/euro/pound/etc. is money well spent. It is incumbent upon Royal Caribbean to maintain the exceptional value of our products.
It has been a good year for our fleet both in satisfaction ratings and in revitalizations. During 2012 we made major investments in Grandeur san diego marriott hotel and marina of the Seas , Rhapsody of the Seas , Mariner of the Seas , Serenade of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas . I really enjoyed spending san diego marriott hotel and marina a night on Grandeur recently to see first-hand the improvements featuring the Centrum Wow entertainment.
The holiday season has arrived and so have the November Ask Adam questions. My wife and I go on at least two cruises per year and sometimes three. We cruise Carnival as my wife loves the way they treat us. What is the difference and why would we jump ship so to speak? – Ken T.
Adam Goldstein, the President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, has been answering it Royally since 1988. In 1998, Advertising Age named Adam one of their Marketing 100, the magazine's annual roundup of the best a
