I am trying to fix up my sister's van to sell it. She got a new car, so rather than getting dirt for trade-in value I volunteered to clean it up, fix what I can and deal with selling it private party. I also live in a much larger metro area (Albuquerque) so better for selling it where I live than where she lives (Roswell).
The check engine light is on, and I hooked up my code reader. Could not get it to read, tried wiggling the connector and wires, no luck. Checked my reader on one of my cars and it is working fine. Went to two different parts stores to have them try and both were unsuccessful. alaskan small ship cruises All of the attempts were using the simple hand-held readers, not the more advanced type used at a real repair place.
The van runs good, so no obvious problem tripping the CEL, but I did notice that occasionally it stumbles when idling. I figure alaskan small ship cruises it is likely spark or could be something with the EGR. Although EGR should make it bad for longer than a short stumble and then recovery.
Wow, Stick you're once again are right on the money. Also thanks to the rest that suggested the same thing. Checked the fuse and sure enough #17, 20A was blown. Replaced that and then hooked up my code reader and it worked. I also cleared the computer to turn off the CEL, but I understand that I need to fix what set the codes.
I have the following alaskan small ship cruises codes: P0171 and P0174, which my little book that came with the reader list as system too lean, bank 1 and system too lean, bank 2 . So what does that mean? Do I have a vacuum leak somewhere to track down? I appreciate any help for things to look into to fix it so the codes do not reset and the CEL doesn't come back. Or at least long enough to keep the light off until I get it sold

One more thing, check the secondary butterfly linkage (passenger side just below the plenum). Sometimes it throws alaskan small ship cruises a code, other times not so much. The little plastic tabs break off and the car no longer has control of them. Much easier to replace with the plenum and cowl off.
If you don't feel like removing the wiper module, loosen all the subframe bolts and raise the chassis off the subframe, this will allow you topulll upper plenum without F'g with the whole wiper thing.Good luck,
Thanks srmofo and scofo, forgot to mention earlier it is the 3.8 V6 engine, but that seems to be the most popular in these vans. The plenum gaskets or other more detailed look for hoses will need to wait until this weekend, and I do not have a smoke machine. It does have a plastic intake. Unless I get it sold before then, the craigslist ad went up tonight and already have someone to look at it tomorrow in the light. I will try to fix a simple hose, but plenum gaskets can be the new owner's job. I have the van cleaned up inside and out, so it looks good and runs pretty nice for the most part. That is already more time in this than i really want to spend, i have enough of my stuff I would rather work on.
The van has 132K, near new tires, straight body and decent interior. Needs some work, the blend door motor is broken and i manually fixed to enable heat. Cruise control does not engage, alaskan small ship cruises paint needs a good polishing out of scratches and interior could use good cleaning of carpets and seats. But some family needing a cheap kid hauler will probably buy it. Only asking $1400, NADA avg trade-in is $1525. Anything will be better than the dealer wanting to give $500, they would have just wholesale auctioned it out. They really did not want to deal with it. I think new car dealers only want used trade-ins that are within 1-4 years and 50K or less miles, such as the typical lease turn in.
I remember awhile back that a 99 nissan quest would not work on a couple scanners I had and i contacted the manufacturers and they stated alaskan small ship cruises that it was not obd 2 compliant. I had to use a cheap scanner and or a snap on solus to get a reading. I am pretty sure the windstar is the same car.

I have one, will look at some of the ideas here, runs good, beyond any real fix up due to rust but its been a good little truck. One injector and couple sets of plugs, clean the idle air thingy and its got about 180K on it. If I was closer would scoop it up for utility use.

No rust here in NM, dry southwest desert climate. Easy to remove the middle and rear seats and it has a big flat area. I am pretty sure that it will sell to a family needing to haul kids and all their stuff around. That is what minivans are made for. Back in 60's and 70's when I was a kid it was the station wagon, now it's the minivan.
