Edmunds Inside Line reports, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has launched a preliminary investigation into complaints of engine compartment fires in 1995-2003 Ford Windstar minivans. If the investigation leads to a recall, it could involve as many as 1.7 million vehicles, according to the federal government.
According to the investigation notice posted by National Highway Traffic Safety hotels in new york city Administration, the government has received hotels in new york city 130 complaints alleging engine compartment fires in the vehicles. Sixty-five of the complaints allege that the speed control deactivation switch caused the fire. A handful hotels in new york city of complaints allege other causes. Complaints say fires have occurred both while the vehicles were running and after they had parked. Some cite structural damage to houses where the vans were parked.
