My experience with my last car rental was very good. In fact, I even returned the car with one quart

Family reunions are so much fun. This one was going to be a get together for my family where we were not at a negative occurence and I was very much looking forward to it. I was looking forward to this trip because I had not seen a good number of aunts, uncles, and cousins for some time. The location for our gathering was in Belfast, New York. This is a small area south of Buffalo, New York. The area is famous for rural settings and cottages. Most of the people who have a place there only visit on weekends or vacations. They tend to live more towards the city.
Getting there was almost not going to happen as a Priceline reservation I had made for a rental car through Alamo Car rentals fell apart. You see, I arrived at Alamo at 7:30am on a Friday to pick up my full sized vehicle and start my trip up to New York from Charlotte, North Carolina. The clerk was friendly travel brochures for ireland at first and had me almost through my transaction travel brochures for ireland when I was asked the one question that sealed my fate. Sir, I need your credit card was the request from the clerk. I handed him my card which stated Visa on the logo set on the card. However, the word debit was also present and it appears this is a really bad thing because travel brochures for ireland Alamo does not accept this type of card. Yet, Priceline allowed me to pay for my rental travel brochures for ireland in full with this same card. The clerk was insistant that my only option was to call Priceline and cancel the transaction. A wonderful deal I had made through Priceline was about to blow up in my face. The Alamo folks were at least nice enough to let me use their phone since I did not have one with me (I guess). Priceline told me they would do me a favor and cancel my transaction because this was not their policy. They were not able to switch me to another company and this really was a large issue. My trip to the reunion was about to fail and I will say DO NOT USE ALAMO CAR RENTALS !
I called for a ride home since I was stuck at the Airport having received a ride from my daughter who was off to school. A call to the people at the Entertainment discount book landed me another rental travel brochures for ireland car from Enterprise who did accept my Credit Card with Debit. The cost was $150 more than my other deal but Enterprise travel brochures for ireland was very nice in handling the situation. In fact, they switched me to a different vehicle after I realized an issue on the first one. Shout out here to Enterprise!
The trip to Belfast was long and after my delay, I had to make a stop in Erie, Pennsylvania and stop at the Quality Inn for the night at Exit 18 off the Interstate 90. These people were great getting us a room on a last second notice. They also have a very nice breakfast in the morning as they have a hot buffet. Being well rested the next morning allowed us to finish the trip on Interstate travel brochures for ireland 86 into Belfast.
As we got off the exit, there was a small town of Cuba, New York. They have a McDonald's here and a small store across the way. The big claim of this small town is the Cuba Cheese Factory famous for producing some excellent cheese products. We were looking to make a purchase of cheese curds and amazingly the store had sold out for the day. The amount of visitors the store gets is big and the clerk told us they do run short some days.
The land at my uncles is really nice. A very quiet setting in the woods where his cabin sits just in from of a stream. There are crawfish and minnows in the stream and they set traps to capture some of this great bait for fishing. There are several travel brochures for ireland ponds around the various properties of my uncle and his friends that he has met over the years. We went fishing in one of the ponds catching some really nice sized bass. We caught them and tossed them back as they were there for the enjoyment of the owner. There were four wheelers and motorcycles on the property. One was my brothers who has land and a barn across the street. These vehicles were great for looking around and seeing the countryside. They have a spring up on the hill and large holding tanks to handle the water supply. The family was there on Saturday and some for both Saturday and Sunday. We camped out in tents, trailers, and some in the cabin. We had a lot of fun and ate well as my cousins cooked some great Chiavetta's Chicken. My other cousins made a terrific breakfast the next morning.
There are plenty of Amish people in the area and these people work very hard. They assisted travel brochures for ireland my brother to build his barn and the craftsmanship was incredible. We passed a horse and buggy on the way down to town and we waved at the man driving. What a real nice place to have a cottage in Belfast. The lakes nearby make for some terrific boating and swimming but we did not get time to go to the lake this trip. All the car troubles were really worth coming all this way for a really nice weekend.
I believe your ordeal with Alamo was related to the debit card. My understanding is the debit card is not directly tied to the credit card company and thus will not guarantee the person accepting the request to be covered if there was an issue with collecting the amount. The problem travel brochures for ireland I have with the concept is the payment of the car is completed. This additional $100 or $200 charge these car rental places put on you is to cover mild damage to the vehicle. Most returns do not have any issues and the money is never officially charged. I believe another reason for the amount is a gas cover charge in case the person does not put in the appropriate travel brochures for ireland amount of gas on return. But the fare has been paid so why not accept the card? Really makes no sense to me either and I understand your frustration.
My experience with my last car rental was very good. In fact, I even returned the car with one quarter of a tank in gas more than they left me with on pick-up. I should be entitled to a refund for doing them a favor. But of course, nothing in return or a credit towards my next rental. I suppose this makes sense since I the company was not expecting me to add more gas than they gave to me.
What I don t understand in this whole concept is how can these rental car places give up the business? You mentioned you received travel brochures for ireland a great deal through Priceline. Obviously, Alamo was wanting the business if they would agree to a low price with you at the start. Is Alamo really making that much money that they can afford to just let you walk? I am thinking no in both the answers to these questions.
